The CBS Evening News with Dan Rather is a joke
Rathers faux down-home country boy routine is not only a cheap ruse, but it exemplifies his disregard for the intelligence of the viewing public. But all of the blame here cant just be laid at Rathers feet. The whole of CBS News must, finally, be held accountable. In an era when companies pay billions to the FCC for access, the networks are given free access in return for the public service they provide. But overt acts of bias and manipulating information to reflect ideology, as Rather and his network have done, are not in the public interest, even if all the high-paid talking heads believe it is

1st customer: . . . I'll have tea.
2nd customer: . . . Me, too. And be sure the glass is clean!
( The waiter exits, and then returns after a while. )
Waiter: . . . Two teas. Which one asked for the clean glass?

A passenger jet was suffering through a severe thunderstorm.
As the passengers were being bounced around by the turbulence a young woman
turned to a minister sitting next to her and with a nervous laugh asked,
"Reverend, you're a man of God, can't you do something about this storm?"
To this he replied, "Lady, I'm in sales, not management."
