In a previous day's article, Lance Berkman, Houston slugger and a native Texan, also said he was embarrassed that the Dixie Chicks were from Texas and suggested they move to Oklahoma.

I'm glad to see it. Leftist pseudo-intellectuals will sneer. Anything which celebrates competition and excellence has that effect on socialists.

Other professional baseball players that have come out in support of the President and our troops include C Mike Piazza, who was one of the first to suggest a boycott of the French, and Roger Clemens, who spent part of his offseason with our troops stationed in Afghanistan, and recently addressed some troops going over to Iraq from the Tampa area.

One professional athlete who has come out against the war, is Canadian G Steve Nash of the Dallas Mavericks.

Well, as a longtime San Francisco Giants fan, I always liked Jeff Kent and I"m glad to see he supports Bush on this. Way to go, Jeff!!

What does he have against Oklahoma?

This Iraq business has been so dominant of late, I had no idea Kent was an Astro.

It's a Texas thang. Sort of like New York/New Jersey or Minnesota/Iowa. Familiarity breeds contempt...

Kent owns a ranch near Austin and chose a reduced contract in order to play close to home. Besides, if you made MVP money, would you want your tax bite to be figured from Texas or San Francisco?

Thus this is why baseball is a GREAT American sport!

Do they play baseball in France? Ha! I'd love to get ChIraq up to the plate with a bat...and me with the ball!

Yeah, Jeff Kent is an Astro, and probably the most high profile free agent signing since Nolan Ryan.

I am pretty excited about it too. If the stars line up just right, this may be the year.

He'd be as impotent as Kofi Annan throwing the first pitch at the World Series. I've never seen someone "throw" a ball to home plate worse than he did in my life. It must have made it 15 feet before it rolled towards the plate. It was embarassing.

I would bet a lot of the Braves are. Who can forget ex-Brave John Rocker. I am sure he loves the French right about now.
