What, pray tell, is that intact round doing at the side of this guy's head?

Tell me, is that a bullet whizzing by this Tommy's head? If not, what the heck is it?

Thank you so much for the effort you put into your "GOTTA SEE THIS" posts. I always check them out and share them. Time to let you know how much they are appreciated. Thanks again.

Not intact...just BIG!
That's probably a 7.62mm (or .308 caliber) standard NATO round.

It's the ejected spent casing from the bullet he just fired. It came out of the light-grey rectangle just below his nose.

That's the shell casing that was just ejected after he popped a cap.
To: mvpel
It looks like bullet and casing. The front end is a different color and appears to have a rim at the back. Just imagining things I guess.

That's probably a 5.56x45 (.223)
What was the deal with the cessna?

The periscope one is cool!
I see that all the street lights are still on.
It would be nice if the Iraqi military would surrender quickly so we didn't have to go after "soft" targets like the electrical grid. Winning and keeping the lights on would be a real coup!

Here's what an empty casing looks like for .223 caliber (the standard rifle caliber for NATO infantry):
The discoloration on the front end is just the soot from the expended round.

Beautiful pictures. If anyone knows, what does that Commando have stuck to the side of his head.
