Breaking: Bob Arnot of NBC News reports coalition forces have captured an Iraqi soldier who was found to have an envelope with a suspicious powder, presumably anthrax, and instructions on how to kill coalition soldiers using it. It's an SA-2 Guideline. This is a surface to air missile of Russian origin. This is the same type of missile used to shoot down Gary Powers in 1960.

I believe that missile's an Al-Samoud. The Al-Samoud is a conversion of the SA-2 to a surface-to-surface role. Among other changes, it has a bigger rocket engine and smaller control surfaces (since it doesn't need to maneuver in flight as much as a SAM), both of which seem to be apparent in that video. The Al-Samoud, of course, is the proscribed missile Hans Blix believed Saddam was destroying.

The strange thing is, none of the other cable news stations or radio stations (in L.A. area) have mentioned this story. Yet I saw Dr. Bob Arnot on MSNBC early this morning (Pacific time) when he first did this report. At the time there was loud aircraft noise and Arnot could barely be heard. They went back to him later in the morning when things where quieter where he is, and he repeated the story. Seems to me this should be the biggest story of the day, yet no one else has mentioned it.

Dr. Bob Arnot, reporting for MSNBC by videophone from Iraq, where he is embedded with a United States military unit, stated this live early this morning Pacific time. An Iraqi soldier was taken into custody. In the truck he was driving, there was an envelope with suspicious traces of what might be anthrax. The envelope was sent to the appropriate support groups for testing. Also in the truck was written instructions as to how to use the anthrax as a weapon.

O. Before you do anything, take the antibiotic tablets so the powder in the envelope/vial, etc.

2. If the American/UK soldier(s) who detain you are not observent enough to remove
the vial/envelope from your person...try to wait until a number of them are gathered
near to you.
3. Hide the vial (with top open) in your hands and pretend to sneeze in their direction.
Do this in the lowest light possible so that the Americans will only
think they have been "dusted" by a bit of sand.

If they've not taken any antibiotics, they'll be sick in a couple of days.
And dead in a week if their doctors botch the diagnosis.

I don't believe them, but it would appear that some folks lack the critical thinking capacity to take anything that's broadcast as Gospel Truth.

I doubt Hussein & Co. would go to that trouble. The upper echelons would likely be vaccinated, but I doubt if they'd care much about the messenger. Another dead body is just something to step over for that crew.
