nah... there's lots of gram positive bacilli which are spore forming. You can't positively ID the bug without doing either micro bio lab studies or DNA PCR.

I didn't make my point well, I guess. I was not saying that this would "positively ID the bug"- only that it might show that there was in fact no "bug" there, and the troops could relax a little (and possibly not be quick on the trigger on some poor joker who just wants to surrender...)
