Isn't it amazing how good FOX's ratings are? Just proves that there are a lot more "American's" and a lot less America haters out there.

You're better off with this as a reply than a new thread. It's a subject that's been batted around here plenty, and which old Nicollo likes to swat whenever he can.

You are too apologetic for the Cold War. In war, the collateral damage is civilians and infrastructure. During the Cold War, i.e., the War for Civilization, the collateral damage was both physical (Korea, Vietnam, El Salvador) and political.

That war reached every corner of the earth and into the heavens above it. No, no apologies for nuthin, not for dictators, not for McCarthy, not for winning. We fought the communists at every front and in every way. We nearly lost it, too. Perhaps you recall the 1970s and early 1980s, before Reagan showed the folly, when American intelligencia proclaimed the superiority of the Russian economic and political "model." Their model was no such thing: it was a vile, human-destroying, God-denying machine of destruction.

The world we face today is yet tormented by Cold War postures. The primary battlefield, Europe, has been won adn converted to our side (give or take Old Europe, heh, heh), but the third world is still at play. We've turned the Pakistant-India-Afghanistan front, and now we're turning the Middle East. This war is an extension of the Cold War as much as of Gulf I. We're finishing it, finally, thankfully.

I'm sure you didn't mean it, but it's in your post. No, no apologies.

No, it won't cause us to lose the war, and I don't believe I said that.

It's just so Jr. High school to spend time nitpicking.

I saw a post where someone here thought the eyes darting around made it look like he was under duress. You would think if he was really under duress he could give some kind of signal

Liars also do that. Peter Arnett was excited to do that interview. He wasn't under duress, just under Saddam's dress.

I love Fox. And agree with your statement in this post, but if ya can't kid your friends in your own house.....you know. That was just the first time WE have ever exchanged and I wanted y'all to be clear where I was. Welcome NEWBIE! (To me anyway) Whoa! I see yer not too new, but I was here first. (How do ya make a smiley with a tongue sticking out in fun?)

I think your editorial was great. Just enough male 'bite' for my taste. My buddy in the Navy years ago ran the following ad in the paper under 'Wanted to Trade" after he visited a FRENCH skivie house. What ya think?...

Wanted to Trade

Hi newbie yourself :)-

How's that? LOL

And sorry for the rant, it really wasn't directed at you. I guess I just really appreciate the fact that I don't have to watch this war through the eyes of CNN.

Watching these FOX anchors get as irate as we are about the likes of Arnett, seeing Shep ask to see the bomb land six or seven times, watching Geraldo in Afghanistan and then with the 101st and seeing how much he really respects these folks - well it just hit me that they're doing a really good thing here.

To make fun of the little things just seems so petty. I guess I'd rather focus on the positive.

Have a good one.
