Thousands purposefully seek AIDS each year, SF doctor says

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)--Thousands of people knowingly infect themselves with the HIV virus each year, according to Rolling Stone magazine -- a practice commonly known as "bug chasing" and cited by those who participate in it as the ultimate form of erotic fulfillment.

Bug chasing is most commonly associated with homosexual men, Rolling Stone reports, and is propagated through a vast Internet network of websites and chat rooms where bug chasers can arrange sexual encounters with carriers of AIDS.

This practice serves as a horrific expression of human sinfulness, Southern Baptist bioethicist Ben Mitchell says. However, believers ought not to be so shocked by bug chasing that they fail to minister to those ensnared in its fearsome spiral of death, says Tim Wilkins, founder/director of Cross Ministry, a ministry that equips churches to evangelize and disciple homosexuals.

That attempt was pretty weak and wouldn't have torn a square of toilet paper off the roll.

Nothing in Sullivan's piece discredits the original essay filled with interviews of homos attempting this suicide.

The really interesting point is that the doctors retract their statements under pressure from the SSAD establishment.
Though none deny the phenomenon exists.

Is barebacking and russian roulette different from 'bug chasing'?

"...the normal fruits of homosexual behavior..."

There's a great pun in there....

More than you might think....Remember, it's California we are talking about - SanFagcisco not only aknowledges, supports, and encourages homosexual partners by covering them with their medical insurance and paying for sex-change operations, but also includes AIDS coverage.

Some people thrive off the attention they get when sick - combine that with the free-ride AIDS gets you in some circles (especially out on the Left coast) and you get this situation.

Of course, no-where is completely imune from such sick behaviour.

This makes me rethink the decision to declassify homosexuality as a mental illness.

There's two many indicators that ride along with homosexuality. Maybe gayness in itself is simply a symptom.

That article has been attacked, but the bug-chasing is lamentably real.

It is slowing down a little, but there was a time in this country, if you had aids, you were treated as a martyr - - put on a pedestal -

From Sullivan's article:

The entire lead of the piece is written in a prose style that reads like Jerry Falwell channeling Hunter S. Thompson.

That is the best sentence I've read all day. What a mental picture that created!

Andrew Sullivan also does not deny that bug chasers exist. But he does put holes in the original article - the 40,000 infected figure, the 10,000 bug chasers figure. He also points out how the most disturbing quotes are from one person imagining how it might be, not how it actually was. Only one admitted bug chaser is interviewed.

Who knows whether the statements were retracted from pressure or not? Wouldn't it be slander on the doctor's part to say that the writer misquoted him if he really didn't misquote him?

Yes, but no less stupid. People who participate in those, umm, pasttimes, hope they don't get the bullet/bug, but the odds are against them.

Now, I'm no psychologist, but there's something in this behavior that reeks of self-destruction. Under other circumstances, this would be considered pathological, virtually suicidal. However, we are talking about the protected homosexual demographic, darlings of the Left. Under that latex umbrella, no act is too depraved to deserve censure.

This was BS when it was written in Rolling Stone and it's still BS today. The only "evidence" RS gave for this was the unscientific estimate one lone doctor gave them. It's just an anti-gay smear.

Why do you think I said 'It ought to slow transmission down at least a little'?

As for the rest, I'm not going there. Good thing I paused to make supper.

How is it that the normal fruits of homosexual behavior (to say nothing of arguably suicidal behavior) do NOT raise these costs for everyone....?

This is a question that deserves in depth and wide discussion. It falls into one of those categories of questions that the left tries to silence by harrassing anyone who dares ask them, and labels them as homophobic and hate filled. Rational discussion is impossible with these people.

I want to know why I have to pay the same as a male homosexual for my life and health insurance? It's not fair.
