If that walk down the street was recent, then it had to be one of the doubles. Saddam wouldn't walk down an unguarded street even in the best of times.
And if that walk was recent, and a double, can you imagine how scared shitless that guy was? There's American special-ops guys around here! What if one of them SEES me?

Yeah, THAT video.

Maybe "Black Hawk Down" was in Saddam's video library.
Until he has a newspaper sitting in front of him. (they did that with Daniel Pearl) I believe Nothing.

Could this be a tape from previous strikes? Clinton bombed and ran in 1998? Saddam is now in his 60's.
To: Smogger
Look...we didn't know if he was alive or not, and I guess we still don't. If he is alive, though, it is
great news that he is stupid enough to be still running around Baghdad.
If he's not a dead man, he's a dead man walking.

Saddam is (was) a germ-o-phobic. Some commentators say that the person in the tape being the fearless leader is suspicious because of all the riff-raff touching him, breathing on him, shaking his hand and kissing his ring.
The all-male and small crowd around him appeared programmed. It was like a set-piece tableau. More than likely some of his troops in civvy clothes.
Then too, if it was the real Saddam in a real crowd on a real city street, I find it hard to picture his bodyguards allowing these males to rush madly up to him out of nowhere just to grab at his hand and arms.

But geez, haven't they learned by now they should be more dubious of anything coming out of the Iraqi regime? Wouldn't it be nice if they were as skeptical about information coming from Iraq as they are about information coming from the Pentagon?

"sadam is dead"
I hope so cause think how much easier it will be just to display his body rather than have a lengthy trial and all the crapola that comes with it.

And what about the giggly clown-grin and the bowling-lane high-fives in the midst of one of the quickest and most devastating military defeats in history. Only heavy dosages of ecstasy could crank someone up to that level of unreality and disconnect.
It's street theater. Directed by amateurs. Aimed at the mass of morons known as "the Arab street".
(The Arab Lunatic Asylum is more like it.)

Hmm, how about all the folks around here who just
knew Saddam was dead because they, well, they just
knew it...
Of course, they're not around much at the moment. Not because they're embarrassed, but because they're off wildly speculating about the next speculative thing that's come along, satisfied to think with their guts instead of their heads. Maybe in an Elizabeth Smart thread somewhere or something.
Funny how that all works.
