The chickens all died. They tried to replace them with pigeons. Not kidding.

Chickens were a poor choice in the first place. Chickens are very fragile. Any farmer/rancher will tell you, you can literally SCARE some Chickens to death. Being tied to the top/front of a tank would not suit a Chicken. In fact, Tank-Riding-Chickens probably have an LD-100 (100% lethality).

So if you use fish as a gas detector isn't that kinda hard on the fish? And wouldn't you have to take a lot with you? Shucks, they'd only last a couple minutes before you'd have to replace them....and when they start gasping for air you wouldn't know if it was gas or nerve agent.....and if you ate the fish you might get sick. I'd prefer wearing a chicken, though wouldn't a laboratory rat be better? They use them for everything....except how can you tell when a rat has cancer? Like can you train them to tell you...then maybe the rat could push a button and lite a light to tell you if there was gas...or maybe an ambush. I think a fish would be useless.
