By evening up to 2 Regular Iraqi Brigades and two Thousand Irregular Iraqi Militiamen were fighting for Baghdad International Airport. Americans had to use all available forces of the 3rd Mechanized Division and 101st Airborne Division to repulse the Iraqi attack. Assault aircraft and battle helicopters made 300 operation flights to this region.
During the fight the Iraq Army lost up to 20 tanks, 10APC, about 200 men killed and up to 300 wounded. The American losses were up to 30 men killed, about 50 wounded, at least 4 tanks, 4APC and one helicopter. But it is impossbile to obtain the exact data yet. By this hour there have been more than 20 flights for evacuation of killed and wounded Coalition soldiers and the command has requested ambulace aviation again.
The combat was so intense that the Commander of the 3rd Mechanized Division US Major General Buford Blunt had to order a false strike (Russian for battlefield feint?-ed.) Around 8AM from Khan-Azad road junction an attack was organized in order to demonsrate tank vanguards of a large subdivision advancing towards Al Daura from the South. The group was able to reach the outskirts of the town near the Avajridge villiage. After entering the villiage the group was met by Republican Guards. In direct combat the group lost 2 tanks, 3APC, 3 men killed, up to 10 wounded and, after 2 hours of fighting, withdrew to the main forces. Iraqis lost 4 tanks, 2APC, and up to 30 men killed.
By the evening the foes have reduced their activity and were regrouping during the night. Americans are rapidly fortifying their defense positions

The Russians tell the truth about as well as they teach warfare.

A couple of weeks ago, this site had us "getting bogged down" in "positional warfare".

C'mon, this is some clown playing Debka. Look at the specificity of this data: so many tanks, so many APCs, so many guys killed. That's called "false detail." It's supposed to lend credibility, but if you think about it, it does the opposite. If the Russians were actually capable of knowing the losses on both sides,
or even getting close, they would never publish what they knew in a public place because to do so would reveal their intelligence capabilities.
Somewhere on the web there is a guy taking wire service reports, embellishing them with made-up statistics and what he thinks is military jargon, and then laughing his butt off when people take it seriously.

On NBC I did see one burnt out M-1 on a city street they said that was in Baghdad. People were standing on it and they claimed to have captured 7 more AFV's. The last claim was suspect but I don't think we have reported an M-1 lost within the city limits yet.

The American losses were up to 30 men killed, about 50 wounded, at least 4 tanks, 4APC's.. Yeah...and a partridge in a pear tree. Stuff it up your stockings, russkies.

I don't think we have reported an M-1 lost within the city limits yet. Not so. Greg Brooks reported the disabling of one Abrams in the action yesterday. There at first was an attempt to tow it, and then, when this proved impossible, the unit was blown up with C-4. There was a loss of one man, a tank commander.

Once again, Americans, I have taken time off from glorious World Revolution to translate Summary of this wital war News (WWN):
Capitalist war-mongers suffer enormous losses among their misled proletariat and barely avoid defeat in pitched battle against brave internationalist brigades.

This is a rough Russian translation.. If you want the english translation, if you think it has any validity, Orlin Grabbe's web site updates it on a regular basis.
I'll stick with Fox News.

Major Bevelecqua (sp?) on Fox News said that he recognized that tank from earlier video reports. Our troops had tried to tow it after it caught fire, but ended up abandoning it instead. Others from other threads even remember the number on the side of the tank being the same. Capturing abandoned tanks seems to be the best the Iraqiis can do right now.

This is a rough Russian translation.. This is a more accurate Russian translation:
"We're really pissed off that the US went to war and screwed up all our plans to make a killing off of Iraqi oil development...plus we were making a bunch of money off illegal weapons as well as military advice - and then the Americans and Brits came along and demonstrated how worthless it all was..."

Russian communist garbage. Yawn...

This is just slightly more honest than Baghdad Bob.
The Russians understand disinformation and agitprop better than he ever will.
