I accuse CNN of being
complicit in the torture of these people by cooperating with Iraqi authorities just so they could get a camera into Iraq.
It is too late too come clean. They are as guilty as the regime if they knew this was happening and still prostrated themselves just to get a story.

I hardly know what to make of this; I couldn't begin to express what I'm feeling right now.

My sentiments as well- this muffled whine about how rough it was for them to keep quiet is ridiculous. I find it incredible and disgusting they didn't have the decency to pack up and leave and tell the world what was going on.

You are correct. Now that the truth is coming out on this regime, you will see more and more pieces like this from different organizations, saying they knew about the torture and killing but did not say anything because they did not want more torture and killings to happen. CNN, the Olympic organization, the UN, the French, the Germans, the Russians, the weapons inspectors - they all knew and yet said nothing!

I read it. I replied. I then started reading the other replies and found that you and I had the same exact reaction to the piece.

CNN cares more about having a Baghdad office than they care about people. Pathetic!

I agree. They are news journalists. Stalinism depends on silence and the re-writing of history.

Bush goes and takes the arrows, all by himself, CNN joining in the boo-chorus; he liberates Iraq -- and now suddenly CNN wants to say, "Yes, well; good thing! Horrid man, that Hussein!"

You're right. But beyond that, someone needs to explain to me why CNN news coverage has always been so slanted with regards to how we should handle the Iraq problem. They, of all people, should have supported the president and pointed out the impotence of the U.N.
I could almost believe that Saddam has planted subversives at CNN

I totally agree.

You obviously don't get it do you? I guess it might help if you had a little brain matter between your ears but let me try and explain this one to you. Let's say for instance even one of these stories were told. CNN and all other news organizations would of been kicked out immediately never to return. The result.. all of this would go undocumented. Now i'm sure there are plenty of news organizations that will be able to place facts so that any living members of the regime responsible for these crimes will be put to justice. That's just one part. How about the Iraqi's working for them as he mentioned? Is it better to document these stories or to have your whole baghdad staff killed? What would be better for your concience?
Try acting your age if you can.

To: Henk
Perhaps CNN felt it was better to disclose now rather than have the story revealed by some captured Iraqi regime official in a position to know. It might have been a case of CYA, not contrition.
