HILLARY'S BOOK DISASTER: Tell-All Doesn't Tell Nearly Enough
National Enquirer ^ | 4/24/03 | anonymous

Posted on 04/24/2003 1:05:54 PM PDT by tellw

Hillary Clinton is balking at spilling sordid secrets in her $8 million book -- and a behind-the-scenes war with her publisher is getting ugly!

The ENQUIRER has learned that Hillary's tardiness in finishing her White House memoirs is only half the story. The real battle is over what's going to be in the book -- and what's not.

"Simon & Schuster shelled out one of the biggest advances in history for the form-er First Lady to write a down-and-dirty tell-all," a well-placed publishing source told The ENQUIRER.

"At the time, the Clinton marriage seemed to be disintegrating and Hillary told them she'd be totally candid -- because she didn't expect to be married to Bill when the book came out.

"But the Clintons are somehow keeping their marriage afloat.

"So Hillary is backing away from writing a detailed account of Bill's sexual adventures -- from Arkansas to Monica -- and of her personal feelings.

"She now plans to turn the book into a sanitized version of her life, along with tips for women on how to hold it together while not tarnishing the ideals of feminism.

"Instead of finally revealing the truth about her marriage, it looks like Hillary's book will be a whitewash.

"The folks at Simon & Schuster are livid -- and they've told her so."

Hillary's book was due to be on store shelves in August. To meet that deadline, the book had to be at the printers by May.

"But Hillary's not only late with her manuscript, she has no title for it!" the source added.

"With no manuscript and no title, there can be no marketing campaign and few advance sales."

But Hillary's not the only Clinton with a book problem.

Hubby Bill inked an even more stunning deal -- for $12 million -- and he hasn't even started writing yet!

"He needs his story to be in sync with whatever Hillary says -- and since she hasn't said anything yet, he can't get very far," said another publishing insider.

"By next year, there could well be two publishers with two very big gripes against two very troublesome Clintons."

S&S deserves everything they get in this deal. Didn't they know that the clinton's burn EVERYBODY they come in contact with? I love the smell of burnt liberal fingers in the morning....it reminds me of common sense.

Was there something special about Simon and Schuster that, certainly, the Clintons would know and not backstab them like the Clintons do to all their business "partners?"

Maybe the good folks at S&S thought that since the 'toons were such good buds with a daughter of the late partner named Simon (Carly that is), that they'd not be treated like the rest of the world. Guess they were wrong, if so!

If she had any class, any brains, any self-respect she'd give back the advance.

!?!?!?

This has got to be the funniest thing I've read all year! Please tell me you were joking.

I am still amazed that these two feel that they need each other politically.

Bill is not viewed as being a loyal husban, and she is not viewed as a loving wife.

Separate interrogation is a very old idea.

In the story of Susanna (one of the "additions to Daniel" in the Apocrypha, considered chapter 13 of the Book of Daniel in the Catholic Bible), Daniel questions the two elders separately who have accused Susanna of committing adultery with a young man. He asks them what kind of tree they saw the couple lying together under; one says "mastic" and the other "oak."

This is why the judge in The Merchant of Venice is called "a second Daniel" (Act IV, Scene I). (No trees involved there, just some blockheads.)

You're right. I can't have it both ways! Either morons or savvy.

And after reading others' comments I see the end result all along was some bland read and huge payoff.

"The folks at Simon & Schuster are livid -- and they've told her so."

It serves them right, for trusting a Klinton. I'll bet they never do that again.

No divorce unless a totally unforeseen and extreme circumstance were to happen.

I would say that an extreme circumstance would be that Bill gets someone pregnant, but since he's sterile that can't happen. With the amount of women he seduces, for none of them to get pregnant means that he has to be sterile like he told Juanita Broaderick.

Hey Maceman - you are so right - that's why they interrogate people in separate rooms.

I'm just wondering how long it will take before these publishers get their act together and sue these idiots for not fulfilling their contract ...??

I'm sure there is a statement in the contract which says something to the effect of it being a "tell all book". That alone would allow them to sue for damages if the book doesn't meet that requirement.

Damn straight. The publishers get what they deserve for helping enable these two con artists. No conservative would get that kind of front money for a book deal. We can only hope they poison the well for all the future shills for the commmunist party in the future.

I can't believe the folks at Simon and Schuster were stupid enough to pay a Clinton for "a complete and factual" book about their criminal and perverted careers.

A complete and factual book would serve as evidence for indictments.....

Simon and Schuster simply made an illegal gift to Clintons....legal..

Yes! It sure sounds good, though, to hear that S&S are SO upset about her reneging on their "deal." Give me a break! This was payoff or laundering plain and simple. Livid? What a sick joke!

You publishers cannot play with liars and thieves(Clintons)and expect these two scumbags to follow the rules.

How in the world do you think they got where they are, by being honest, you got to be kidding.

It will serve you right to lose your butt and half its fixtures for expecting Heckel and Jeckel to be anything but what they are, liars and thieves!!

This is too too laughable!

The share holders of S&S should sue the management for Fraud. If they wanted a book to sell fast just reprint all of the tabloid garbage over the past 11 years.

The Clintons never had any intention of writing books and would parse any contractual language to the point that this money was nothing more than a big "thank you for all your services" deal.

1. Hillary can't get elected unless she can cmpaign with the implied promise that by electing her, Bill will be back in the White House.

2. Legally, spouses cannot be forced to testify against each other.

If true, then one cannot imagine a worse hell on earth for either of them than to be stuck with each other in a sham marriage.

Schadenfreude time!
