THE enemy would be quaking the first time the European surrender-monkey army went into action.
Not with fear but with laughter.
Who could take seriously a defence force made up of France, Germany, Belgium and little Luxembourg?
Jacques Chirac pushes the tinpot army just so he can have another dig at America and Britain.
Chirac is in danger of splitting Nato even further, which would please him immensely.
The new army will need a flag.
How about a white one?

NATO is not going to be split. All decisions will merely be taken by the war council which excluded france.

NATO is not going to be split. I don't know the rules for NATO, but I think that if France and Germany push an EU Military alliance, NATO should vote them out! Make the choice stark for all the other nations. Who are they going to choose, the U.S. or France as the protector of their liberties.

The idea of a European defence force reminds me of one of my favorite jokes.
In a perfect world the British would be the police, the French would be the chefs, the Germans would be the mechanics, the Italians would be the lovers and the Swiss would run the trains.
In hell the British would be the chefs, the Germans would be the police, the French would be the mechanics, the Italians would run the trains and all the Swiss would be making love.

It is my understanding that NATO is largely financed by the U.S. And that all of Europe relies on U.S. weapons and technology, which they do not fund.
So, precisely with what will the rival to NATO arm itself?
Does anyone believe those countries will suddenly begin devoting a much larger share of the GNP to this military?
Or, maybe the French, Germany, et al, plan to mimic the Celts and paint themselves blue. Now that should terrorize their enemies.
