Looks like a good hire that should bring some much needed calm to Bama for awhile.

It is my opinion that colleges and universities should not be serving as "minor leagues" for the NFL and NBA. It is my belief that scholarships should be awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement only. I do not believe that sports has a place in our colleges and universities. I believe that if students of a particular college or university should want to watch or even participate in a "sport" that they should do so on their own time.
In conclusion, I believe that our colleges and universities should be places of learning and intense study. Students should pursue their academic subjects with the same vigour that they currently apply to sporting events.

Mike Shula is exactly what LSU needs to be coaching for Alabama. A loser. Let me state right now that I will be VERY surprised if Shula doesn't do for Alabama what he did for the Tampa Bay Bucs, which is jack $#!#. I love the Crimson Tide, and I think they could have put out real money and hired an experienced coach for a program of such incredible history and stature. Instead, they hired a name and gave Shula his first ever job as a head coach at what has been until the last sorry few years, one of college football's finest programs.
I am so disappointed. I hope I'm proven wrong, but given his track record, I can't help but expect the worst. At least they didn't hire Ron Zook. Thank God for small favors.
