Sat down, well okay, laid on the couch last night to watch something on nbc and next thing I knew it was one am. Went to bed and slept another couple of hours and now I'm awake!

Gonna have to stay off of the the couch - as taxman says, "The ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ monster got me"!

Good Morning, all! Another wonderfully clever essay, John!

Today's yet another busy day at work for me, so, I won't be able to keep up with this thread, unfortunately.

I hope everyone has a great day. And I hope it stops raining here, soon! : )

Morning Nicmarlo! Raining here also. Isn't there supposed to be a lunar eclipse tonight?

John, good essay - as usual! Do you think that Graham is suffering from Alzhiemers? He's forgotten, apparently, that these attacks on Americans in the Middle East go back umpteen years - like forever!

I don't know; but if there is, all these clouds that have been surrounding where I live wouldn't allow me to see nufink! : ) I love how God made such cool things to happen. Solar eclipses are most fun....I remember them from California as a kid....and all the warnings about not to look at the sun, and to get two pieces of paper, make a hole in one and place, at a distance, atop the other to "see" the eclipse.....so weird to see that.

The only solar eclipse that I have ever seen was back in, I think 1969 or 1970. I was living in Savannah, Ga at the time. Momma and Daddy were still there and Grandmomma was visiting. We all meet that Saturday at Johnnie Ganems (a local restaurant and friends of Momma and Daddy), Father Frank Donahue, my brothers Nicky and Mikel (both kids) and my son (an infant).

It was amazing, even though we knew what was going on, it still made us fearful. The scarest moment, was when every sound in the Okafanokee Swamp stopped - including the reporters. Then minutes later everything in Savannah - went black, no noise - absolute quiet and stillness...
Even Matthew quit gurgling and making baby noises... It was as if a giant muffler had descended on the world.

You can understand why primative people feel the way they do about such events, because for just a little while you feel the same way.

Most definitely....I'm sure it filled them with awe. Now, can you imagine how they viewed the sun's power if/when some looked up at the sun during an eclipse and it blinded them? Something they could otherwise look at for a short period of time and not be blinded? What to think, as a primative person? Well, the sun is not only a "constant," it has "powers" beyond warmth, and light, and if they understood, growth for plants......wow...it can blind you, too.
