I've had it.

Posted on 05/20/2003 8:43:51 AM PDT by BeerSwillr

I've had it with illegal aliens, illegal immigration, and the complicit attitude of US immigration policy!

My 16 year old has been looking for a summer job for the last 3 months, what he's found has been surprising. Not only are there no summer jobs available, there are no jobs available, period, for someone with no experience.

So you say he's not looking hard enough? That the jobs are there, you just have to find them. HA!

All the entry level, low skill jobs that would normally be taken by teenagers and young adults during the summer are being taken by illegal immigrants, at least here in Texas. The few places that don't hire illegals have to contend with 10 or more applicants for each open position.

So who is this hurting you ask? Just a few teenagers who will be back in school in a couple of months? Just a few teenagers that will contribute little to the overall economic picture? WRONG!

You know the answer. It's hurting everyone. Teenagers would spend almost every penny they earned, contributing immensely to the overall economic health of the US. They would be in the malls, movie theaters, and restaurants spending their hard earned pay, leaving their parents free to spend their money on something else.

The illegal aliens? They used to maintain a low profile. Now, they don't bother. They can be seen everywhere; mowing lawns, planting trees, roofing & framing houses, working at the lube shack, pouring concrete, gathering at several official and unofficial day worker hang-outs in the mornings (when it would be extremely easy for immigration to swoop in and arrest them.)

Where you don't and won't see them is out spending their money (except for at Wal-Mart.) You don't see them at Bennigans, Chilis, Tony Romas, Cinemark, the mall, car dealerships, etc.

Know why?

They don't have any money to spend on the US economy because they're sending everything except a small subsistence back to Mexico.

The illegals are not here to help us or the US economy. Anyone that says they are here to take jobs that US citizens don't want is being disingenuous.

They're siphoning off millions of dollars a year from the economy. Not only by taking jobs, but a host of other ways; education benefits, medical assistance, government assistance, thievery, robbery, drug dealing, you name it, they're involved in it.

And what is the Department of Homeland Security™ doing about this? They're putting on a dog and pony show.

They're outlining major new methods of monitoring ports of entry, airports, etc. with biometrics, fingerprinting, radar, facial recognition technology, and who knows what else, while at the same time doing nothing to monitor thousands of miles of open space where, apparently, it is relatively easy to cross into the US.

It seems to me that simple reconnaissance flights over that vast unmonitored territory would be able to identify these border violations and put a stop to, or at least slow, this illegal invasion of our country.

The Department of Homeland Security™ is largely ignoring the issue. Illegal entry into the US continues unabated across our borders.

It makes me sick.

What can we do about it? Other than mew weakly and post articles like this on the large wasteland that is the internet?

Contact your elected officials and let them know what you're thinking. Let them know you will hold them accountable. It's all in our hands.

I think this is out of the hands of the govt now.

Citizens need to support Ranch Rescue and the other "viglante" groups who are patroling the border documenting the influx of illegals. Citizens need to embarrass the INS into doing somthing, or admit they aren't going to do anything. Citizens need to hold pols accountable for granting privlidges to illegals that US citizens would not get.

If you are in an area where the aliens are not already a majority, you need to stop them from getting any toehold. Once the pols sniff out the votes they can get if the illegals become legal, its all over.

Do you honestly think these *millions* of illegals are all here to bus dishes and mow lawns?

They come here to work...the system.

I thought you had to be a US Citizen and a registered voter to help anyone. Am I wrong?

I'm sorry if it seemed that I encourage illegals coming into the United States... I do not. What I mean to say is that if it were more unprofitable for them to be HERE, perhaps they would stay THERE!

Somehow we have to get across the fact that the benefits of being in the USA belong ONLY to those who are here legally. Period.

I just don't have the answer... I already have the disgust.

If you owned a lawn maintenance service, would you want to hire a spoiled teenager who wants the job so that he can blow the money at the mall, necessitating that he get off during the times that his friends are at the mall, or would you rather hire someone who will work all the hours he can get and doesn't know enough English to mouth off to you.

If I owned a lawn maintenance service I would be tempted to beef up my profit margins by hiring only illegals who work for 1/2 minimum wage w/ no benefits. But I like to think my moral upbringing would prevail.

Here in CA I just finished remodeling my house, using only local kids. These guys worked damn hard and because I shopped around the work got done for a pretty good price.

Oh, and I put in my own front lawn.

"Are you kidding? My son would gladly work fast food. Anything to pay for movies, CDs, videos, etc. "

Fast food and grocery stores use to be where most teens started. Have you checked local grocery stores looking for bag boys? Wal-mart is almost always hiring too. Wal-mart is easy work since it's almost impossible to get fired and they still have a high turnover of employees because people get bored working there.

Last weekend I saw a story on the American Border Patrol, a non-profit organization that is doing what the government refuses to do. Check it out.

I've got no issue with legal immigrants; my wife is one. This has nothing to do with race. Why have YOU played the race card? The discussion here is about national sovereignty and the rights of free nations to enforce their borders, languages and cultures. Again, let me repeat IT'S NOT ABOUT RACE!

One would think that if there was a place where the feds and local cops would be sensitive to illegals it would be there.
One would think, or WE would think, but they don't think.

I know for a fact tiffany was being sarcastic--reductio ad absurdum. It was so sarcastic that it must have been plain. Guess it wasn't too plain.

Well, even with my Sarc-o-meter almost always set on High, I didn't catch that she was being anything other than an annoying leftist troll. I've had the same conversation repeated times with others of that mindset.

If one wants to employ reductio ad absurdum, it is generally agreed that an indication of that be applied to the end of the post, like so: /sarcasm--or some such device. Otherwise one leaves oneself open for misunderstanding, not to mention the almighty ZOT.

Tiffany would not agree.

"it" means the blaming of others, such as immigrants, for your problems. I should have been more clear. Conservatism means taking responsibility for your own problems and not blaming others.

Why not bring out the latent entrepreneurial spirit in your kid? Set him up with a charter bus service for illegals going to and from work... 8~), or perhaps, 8!(

Yeah, but after all, those comments were soooo far out there that for a FR sympathizer to make that it was too obvious. BTW, Your hubby is blessed to have a woman who loves him so much:-)

Remarkably, the earlier a particular US Citizen's ancestors arrived, the greater the possibility that they also share native lineage. Many so called "white" or "Anglo" Americans whom "La Raza" and other insurgent Marxist "Latino" racial identity politics groups deride, are themselves "Mestizos" in the classical sense of the word. What a crock it is to bring race into this discussion. It's not about race, it's about borders, language and culture.

Around here it isn't a stereotype. Now other people do shop at wal-mart here but the flea market isalmost all "immigrants." I don't ever see them in the dollar store or grocery store (the wal-mart is a supercenter with groceries.) The money you spend at wal-mart goes right to chinese sweatshops. I try to only go there for things I can't find anywhere else (like my crochet supplies.) I was surprised to find out recently that the Dollar General stores here that are newly built (the older ones are ratty) have the prettiest clothes for my kids at $5 an outfit. And for groceries, if you get a Kroger Plus card you save *alot* of money and groceries are cheaper than walmart supercenters that way.
