I've had it.

Posted on 05/20/2003 8:43:51 AM PDT by BeerSwillr

I've had it with illegal aliens, illegal immigration, and the complicit attitude of US immigration policy!

My 16 year old has been looking for a summer job for the last 3 months, what he's found has been surprising. Not only are there no summer jobs available, there are no jobs available, period, for someone with no experience.

So you say he's not looking hard enough? That the jobs are there, you just have to find them. HA!

All the entry level, low skill jobs that would normally be taken by teenagers and young adults during the summer are being taken by illegal immigrants, at least here in Texas. The few places that don't hire illegals have to contend with 10 or more applicants for each open position.

So who is this hurting you ask? Just a few teenagers who will be back in school in a couple of months? Just a few teenagers that will contribute little to the overall economic picture? WRONG!

You know the answer. It's hurting everyone. Teenagers would spend almost every penny they earned, contributing immensely to the overall economic health of the US. They would be in the malls, movie theaters, and restaurants spending their hard earned pay, leaving their parents free to spend their money on something else.

The illegal aliens? They used to maintain a low profile. Now, they don't bother. They can be seen everywhere; mowing lawns, planting trees, roofing & framing houses, working at the lube shack, pouring concrete, gathering at several official and unofficial day worker hang-outs in the mornings (when it would be extremely easy for immigration to swoop in and arrest them.)

Where you don't and won't see them is out spending their money (except for at Wal-Mart.) You don't see them at Bennigans, Chilis, Tony Romas, Cinemark, the mall, car dealerships, etc.

Know why?

They don't have any money to spend on the US economy because they're sending everything except a small subsistence back to Mexico.

The illegals are not here to help us or the US economy. Anyone that says they are here to take jobs that US citizens don't want is being disingenuous.

They're siphoning off millions of dollars a year from the economy. Not only by taking jobs, but a host of other ways; education benefits, medical assistance, government assistance, thievery, robbery, drug dealing, you name it, they're involved in it.

And what is the Department of Homeland Security™ doing about this? They're putting on a dog and pony show.

They're outlining major new methods of monitoring ports of entry, airports, etc. with biometrics, fingerprinting, radar, facial recognition technology, and who knows what else, while at the same time doing nothing to monitor thousands of miles of open space where, apparently, it is relatively easy to cross into the US.

It seems to me that simple reconnaissance flights over that vast unmonitored territory would be able to identify these border violations and put a stop to, or at least slow, this illegal invasion of our country.

The Department of Homeland Security™ is largely ignoring the issue. Illegal entry into the US continues unabated across our borders.

It makes me sick.

What can we do about it? Other than mew weakly and post articles like this on the large wasteland that is the internet?

Contact your elected officials and let them know what you're thinking. Let them know you will hold them accountable. It's all in our hands.

I agree with you 100%. It's been a problem for years with the dems trying to get any vote they can (motor voter). Now it's turned into a national security issue and it is not being addressed since it's such a hot potato.

It's a good topic, I'm not making light of it, but as you'll see, you'll get some humor injected with the serious stuff, as it goes along, which, IMHO, is never a bad thing.....

I agree that it's a huge, huge problem. As governor of Texas he could afford to be for it. I think as President, he can't be. Jeb is on the record as being against it, and even the D's in CA are against what is happening out there.

He could afford to be when we were handing out H1-B visa's like they were Chinese take out menus. Now, most good technical jobs are going to India via outsourcing. The saw is starting to cut two ways on illegal immigration, and the dollars have to be accounted for.

He can't be for it and be re-elected, in my opinion.

Jeb is on the record as being against it [amnesty], and even the D's in CA are against what is happening out there.

That does surprise me about Jeb. Then again, I've always heard that Jeb was the most conservative of the Bush Clan and the smartest.

If you would have posted this from California, you would have people from Texas tell you to, "vote with your feet, move, get out of California".

What these people don't understand, it that this epic invasion is spreading ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES !

Talk about stupid Americans!

I have been to Texas, I fully understand. It's crawling with illegal aliens, and so is Indiana, Illinois, Tennessee, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Oregon, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Ohio, etc etc etc etc.

THE BLAME FOR THIS ATTACK ON OUR COUNTRY LIES WITH PRESIDENT BUSH, AND THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. IT'S A GOVERNMENT APPROVED INVASION.

It's bad in Texas but it is spreading. Here in Alabama there are many one bedroom apartments that have a dozen or more illegals living in them sending all their money home. We used to only have the migrant farm workers. But I think now there is a Mexican restaurant on every corner (at least these are contributing). You can't go to a McDonalds, Burger King, or other fast food place unless you speak fluent Spanish.

No state is isolated from this government approved attack on our country, unless one goes to some isolated hideout in the middle of now where, and most people can't do that and survive.

I and others said years ago, that this epic invasion of our borders would become the most threatening, dangerous issue facing this country. It is now a reality.

It's not Mexifornia, it's MEXIMERICA!

Here in NC as well...our beautiful mountains are starting to look like a poor mexican town with all the run down homes and shops they set up.

President Bush don't give a damn!

I wish I had the Plastic Dashboard Virgin Mary concession here in Colorado. I could retire. Oh, and the Mexican flag concession too.

Bump......

Bush and Fox want to see sweeping amnesty for all of the illegals, and the subversives in MALDEF/MecHA/LaRaza/ACLU have more influence than the millions of unemployed conservatives.

In the entire city or area that you live in, there is no place that will hire you son?

Is this Bush speak?

So the kid eventually gets a job at a car wash? What the hell is that going to do to stop this epic, government approved attack on our country?

Bump....

After the H1-B, L1 fiasco and practically open borders, it is clear that the US government is discouraging American citizens from working.

All they care about is money and votes. You are no longer being represented

I have written to my senators (Texas) about the illegal problem. Nice, nonranting, letters that asked for their help in stopping this situation. Five months later I have yet to receive a reply. This is really high on their list of things to do. Yeah right!

It's crawling with illegal aliens...

All brown people aren't illegal.
You're talking about Americans with the same rights as you.
Don't like it? Tough. Move to Sweden.

That was one thing I tried to do with my kids and that was to raise them with a work ethic. They all have jobs, they all work, they can do dishes, clean house, make beds, take care of their kids, cook, do everything necessary to help care for the family. When my middle son went into the Air Force, he sent me a lovely Mother's Day card thanking me for helping him to learn how to make beds. He was the only one in his barracks that could make a bed you could bounce a quarter off of. I still have that note. We don't do kids favors when we don't make them earn their keep.

I live on the Olympic Peninsula in WA. state. My wife teaches Sunday school, last year she had one mexican kid in her class. Clearly here illegally. This year over half of her class are children of illegals.

Meanwhile, US citizens like you and me are subsidizing their expanding population with our tax dollars going for medical care, welfare and education. It takes 2 incomes to pay for all the taxes (including hidden taxes in the products/services we buy) just to support this....which means most people delay marriage, childbirth and have fewer children.

You are so right, the great untold story!

I have no idea what you are talking about. What do you mean by Bush speak? Without being insulting, joe, please spell it out for me.

As for the kid getting a job at the car wash, good for him. And I agree, I certainly wouldn't expect that to stop this 'epic, government approved attack on our country'.

ask for papers from every working Hispanic

In California for the last 12 to 15 years or so, whenever I have been hired for a new job, I have to show a social security card and a birth certificate to prove I am legal to work in this country. Its always angered me that the law requires that employers check your status, and employers who don't do it never suffer any consequences.
