Privatizing the FDA sounds good on the surface, but I'm not convinced it would be any more efficient. Maybe less so, since they could be sued out of existence. Plus, they would have no power to enforce laws.

Yah I guess that the FDA would just turn into a corrupt money pit bent to every whim and dollar thrown at it, like the UL...oh wait......ooops ;)

As far as guard rails and fires, hey I'm with you. Tear down the guard rails and let each nightclub set their own fire safety standards. Let the buyer beware! Feel safer?

Yah, actually I would. At least I would know that I'm on my own as opposed to feeling some sense of false security in that the fed is going to help me (yah right).

Sure there are but the balance is cerainly tipping. And as more and more good cops are forced into bad situations by the ever increasing volume of assenine laws we can expect to meet even less of the good ones....corruption and tyranny by attrition.

A failure of the market place? Au contraire! A stunning success of the market place.

A failure of the Government Workers was sorted out in the market place that you don't trust, so your solution is more government workers... Yikes!

I think it is funny that a Democrat like Stewart got in trouble, but seriously she is getting screwed by the government. Security laws are so vague and so malleable people have no choice to take an action, and then government workers decide weather it was legal or not... Yikes!

As far as guard rails and fires, hey I'm with you. Tear down the guard rails and let each nightclub set their own fire safety standards. Let the buyer beware! Feel safer?

I think the whole point I was making went over your head. If you are driving down a mountain road with out guard rails, you will drive allot slower than you would otherwise. If what you think are guardrails are there, you will feel it safer to increase your speed, if you are mistaken about the guard rails, you would of been safer driving like there were no guard rails there. Take this analogy over to Fire Protection, the city enacted laws and took money from the taxpayers to enforce them, when it turns out their actions did not work, your response was to not blame the people who spent the money, but to make excuses that they did not get enough money. You never hold the government accountable .... Yikes!

"If he doesnt break the codes, and still has a fire, he is not responsible."

I got 50 bucks that says he gets sued for every penny he's got.

Dominoes delivery guys do it right all the damn time why not the cops?

As anybody who ever needed to make deliveries can tell you, you DON'T want to knock on the wrong door in the middle of the night - regardless of the neighborhood. You don't want to be mistaken for some kind of bad guy.

Of course when I delivered pizzas, I couldn't take semi-automatic rifles, stun grenades, etc. with me to use "just in case."

Yes, the low-bred civilians should be grateful for the great mercy and clemency of the gaurdians of the state who graciously allowed them to live. Why, they were not even severly beaten.

Now, even the apologies are cursory, at best.

"Why, they were not even severely beaten."

That's the fact all these bleeding-hearts want to ignore.

When they pop a few kids, or whatever, then sure, that's different. In that case, put them on paid leave and have the police investigate fully.

Good theory, but.... the F' ups like this seem to happen a lot more often than not (at least as far as we know).

These "isolated incidents" seem to be happening more and more frequently.

You'd be well advised to keep your nose clean, citizen!

It sounds like you've been listening to saboteurs, wreckers, and other bourgeois elements...er...enemies of America.
