Is Bush the 1st US President to visit a death camp? I vaguely remember hearing about how Reagan once visited an SS burial ground.

Truman saw photos, not sure if he went to one. The photos had a staggering effect on him, and influenced him, in part, to support the establishment of Israel.

Reagan visited Bitburg Cemetery and the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp as well. Bitberg was a German military camp which contained a number of graves of SS soldiers."

Those were Waffen-SS -- not SS Guards -- men buried at Bitburg. They died covering the retreat that saved many people from the Communist hordes.
