''Why do they perceive, and what evidence do they show, that a sustained committed relationship between gay and lesbian persons has such a devastating impact on the married state?'' ....how many times must this be explained?

This has about as much impact as the following headline:

SATAN CONDEMNS GOD WORSHIP

If they don't like Christianity nor want to follow their rules they are perfectly free to start their own religion.

So the ACLU has a problem with the Catholic Church publicly opposing gay marriage. Strange, the ACLU, in the past, had no problem with liberal churches publicly opposing the Iraqi War, campaigning for RAT candidates, and supporting tax increases for more gov't services.

They are urging parishioners to walk out of services if priests voice the church's opposition to same-sex unions

I think this a mute point, I've never heard a homily against homosexuality.

So much for balanced reporting. We have quote's from: "a Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus board member", a N.O.W,. member that "claims to have been raised Catholic (i guess she missed the part about "though shall not kill"), an ACLU board member, and a lay professor at a Jesuit school.

Amazing that they couldn't find a single person that supported the Church's right to free speech.

But then again it is Boston were talking about.

After a year in which the church was grappling with the sexual abuse crisis, the mobilization may signal an effort to reenter the arena of public policy.

I think that came when they defended Saddam.

If the Catholics let gay and lesbians become members of the clergy, the result will be more molested children. This is a part of making the Catholic Church less hospitable to gays, thus discouraging them from entering the priesthood.

Granny

This issue is a no flier in this State, put this on the Ballot 68 to 32 against. Tommy "the commie" Birmingham our ex-President of the Senate, refused to bring this up during a Constitution Convention on override, Mass Law requires that that an Ammendment to the Constitution be be laid before the Great and General Court in two legislative sessions before it can go on the ballot. This is a requirement you cannot block a vote if it has the required signatures, he did, ran for Gov and lost.

There is a bill to eleminate the Governors Councils role in the appointment of judges, life tenure, and go to a system where the Gov appoints and you have a perodic up or down Vote on tenure, a good thing to my mind. We had 100,000 signatures more than we needed on this issue, the rats aare running scared.

With all the heterosexuals that lash out at the Catholic church, I didn't realize there was any oxygen left for lesbians and homosexuals to lash out. Goodness.

Wow! Fair and balanced reportage from the Boston Globe, grasping little sister to the NY times.
The gays and others quoted in this article have nothing to do with Catholicism except for claiming the designation. It sounds like they may have been to services held by the false priest the Rev. James Keenan who likes to testify in favor of same-sex marriage. What kind of priest do you suppose he is? Is Keenan part of the problem or part of the solution?
The article said, "Activists called the church's renewed focus on the issue an attempt to regain lost credibility..." Well, same-sex marriage is a damned good place to start reclaiming the moral highground.
It's nice to see that the winds of change reach even here in Massachusetts.

Is Same-Sex Marriage Good for the Nation? The only source for unalienable rights in all human history is the Creator, the God of the Bible.

Translation of article: The 1% practitioners of homosexual behavior are in panicked fear that the rest of the population is awakening to the danger homosexual lifestylists pose to families and children. They are screaming like a stuck pig because their political aspirations require stealth and darkeness to pass under the radar.

If Mass. fails to fall their agenda is dead. The Mass legislature will pass a DOMA ammendment. The public will be outraged if the Mass courts make a legislating from the bench mistake. The only weapon they have left is a squeeky wheel misdirection.

... They are urging parishioners to walk out of services if priests voice the church's opposition to same-sex unions and to boycott church collections.

It's past time to give the homsexuals what they need and what the rest of us want.:

A place of their own.

I think it's a great idea for the rest of us to invest in a piece of real estate for the homosexuals and their sycophants.

The city of Paris isn't large enough. The countryfolk of France would be up in arms. Devil's Island is still available, but the resorts would have to be moved.

It must be a spot where, once domiciled, they coulnd't leave. Perhaps surrounded by crocodiles and sharks. There, they could practice their own anus-worshipping religion and screw their brains out to extinction.

Of course the government would subsidize their existence. What a small price to pay to eliminate all the problems they have caused to our culture and civilization at large.

The leadership of the church that covered up the most heinous crimes against children . . .

Never, during the entire scandal did I hear an analysis of the ages or sex of the victims. I strongly suspect that 13-15 year old boys were the targets.

What the homo lobby described as "heinous crimes" at age 15 would have us believe were loving relationships at age 16.

Right.

the Catholic Church ... lacks the moral authority to mobilize parishioners against same-sex marriage.

And same-sex marriage advocates lack the moral authority to mobilize ANYone against ANYthing. If this war is to be fought on a moral battleground, the homos are defeated before they start. However, as usual, the only party held to any moral responsibility will be the Right.

The leadership of the church that covered up the most heinous crimes against children has the gall to come and say, `Well, we can't give any support to two people who want to love each other and take care of each other and make life a little more comfortable for each other.' The irony there is just glaring.''

No, what's "glaring" is the utter hypocrisy of a group to whom pedophilia is a hobby acting like engaging in it robs people of moral authority, then claiming the "moral" high ground against the Catholic Church! That hypocrisy doesn't just glare, it nauseates.

So much for `He who is without sin should cast the first stone,''' said David Breen, a Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus board member and a Catholic. ''For four decades the church was promoting and protecting priests who abused children.

Where to begin..... This person may have come from a catholic family, and grown up in the church, but how you can be part of an orginization promoting homosexuality and call yourself a catholic is beyond me.

One glaring thing I noticed is that throughout the article they constantly refer to "Priests who abuse childeren". It's CONVENIENTLY left out that these were HOMOSEXUALS ABUSING LITTLE BOYS. They make it sound is if it was done equally to both sexes. I bet if you were to ask Mr Breen how he feels about NAMBLA he'd say "Well personally I'm opposed, but that's a freedom of speech issue, they're allowed to advocate what they want." ... or some such blather. These militant homosexuals always manage to find room in their "gay pride" parades for the likes of NAMBLA, then go about chastising people who disagree with their perverted point of view.
