It's ridiculous that Armstrong ranks before Yeager, IMO.

And Valentina Tereshkova ranks way ahead of Howard Hughes. Go figure.

These were voted the top 10 luminaries in aviation and aerospace history in a poll of industry professionals unveiled today.

Would be interesting to know who was polled!

I'd rank Chuck Yeager brfore Armstrong also. But it is not ridiculous to reverse them, they were both men of great courage going into the unknown courageously. Both are legitimate heroes

Have you read Yeager's autobiography? There is a hilarious incident where Armstrong swore the dry lake bed was "dry" enough to land a test aircraft. Yeager told him he wouldn't be able to achieve even a "touch and go." Armstrong touched, didn't go, and the two of them sat there in the desert for around 10 minutes or so, total silence. Yeager wrote "I would have given a lot to see his face right then."

Well, I guess I can understand it... Both are pilots with very serious "firsts."

However, I guess I'm suprised that Buzz Aldrin ranks below Armstrong. Sure, Armstrong was first on the moon, and Aldrin was #2, but Aldrin is a really first class engineer, and he's the one that came up with a lot of the innovations that allow for EVAs, including, I believe, the underwater training for simulating microgravity.
