I say we should let them dig themselves a little deeper, then when the Prez returns he should do an address to the Union in prime time to lay out the facts about the mistruths spread.

But going on prime time will only add fuel to the fire. If he issues a denial, then the story will only grow more legs, and middle America will actually begin to pay attention to the whispers in Washington. Right now, if the game is played as a Washington/media thing, this would be better. Our President does not often address the press, to do so now, would give them even more power. Why should he play the Clinton's game?

I have been sick at the way the mainstream media is treating this story, which escalated big time last night with CBS's false headline. I just heard for myself Ann Compton, (someone else up thread spoke of this),on ABC radio news say how the President explained how the CIA vetted his speech but "refuses to say if the buck stops there".

They are literally making me sick as I watch them contort the statements of Powell, Rice, and President Bush. The media is knowingly presenting this story out of context and they are the ones deliberately misleading the American public.

Rodger Hedgecock in for Rush is doing an excellent job on this subject.

I either did not state my thought clearly, or you misunderstood. NEVER would I suggest our President address the press. He should address the American People by way of an Address to the Nation. Going directly to the American People is the way I believe it should be done. The press can write about it, after the fact, and attempt to tell people what he said, but enough people will have seen it, there will be a good discussion on the streets, coffee shops, breakrooms and feed stores around the nation.
