[history]
FOR Christopher Hitchens, the dramatic deaths of Saddam Hussein's evil spawn will always be the one that got away. The Vanity Fair reporter was in Mosul, Iraq, being shown around by the 101st Airborne the day before the crack American unit cornered Qusay and Uday Hussein and killed them in a six-hour firefight. "I flew back to Washington, D.C., on Monday night," he tells PAGE SIX.

"Morale is very high" among both troops and Iraqi citizens. "People waving American flags at the troops in the street - you can't fake that." True, but if you're dan blather, peteha jennings, or the rest of the liberal established media, you can and do fail to report it so as to lead the American people to beleive things are simply falling apart and we have failed...

Hitchens really should finally acknowledge that he has abandoned the left.

"They were rolling up these networks. They were getting more tips than they knew what to do with," he said. Now that it's clear to everyone that the Baathists aren't coming back, there isn't much time left for Iraqis to turn their knowledge into heaps of cash. It's like a run on the bank.
Time to up the premiums for WMD tips.

He needs to come up with a new label for himself. It's clear that the Left, in its current form, practices a politics devoid of honesty. Hitchens is by no means a conservative, or even libertarian. He is of some rare breed of genuine (meaning both real and honest) liberal. I don't like most of his positions, but I'd certainly have a drink or ten with him.

i think since the twin spawns from hell are now enjoying getting the crap kicked out of them by 144 Virginians 3 thigns will happen.
Us troops will be the subject of fewer attacks.
US troops will get more tips on Saddam and possibly nail him soon.
US troops will get more WMD tips and make some interesting discoveries.

This can't be true. I saw
this on my local TV news the other night.
Anchor Gal: The US military, bogged down in guerilla warfare in Iraq, say they have killed Saddam Hussain's two sons, Queguog and Queasy. Not all Iraqi's greeted this news with approval.
Cut to video of rent-a-mob holding up pictures of Saddam, sons.
Anchor Gal: Let's go now to now to Washington, D.C. and our political correspondent, Torque Lugnut.
Lugnut: Thanks, Tori. As you know, word out of the Pentagon is claiming that the US has killed Saddam's two kids when they bombed a house belonging to a relative. Much like actions taken by Israelis against Palestinians in the occupied territories. Most analysts I have talked to say that, if true, this action will make life a lot tougher for US soldiers in Iraq. Already resistance groups are vowing to avenge the deaths of the two beloved heirs.
Anchor Gal: Thanks for the insight Torque. In other news, Vermont Governor and Democratic presidential hopeful, Howard Dean said about the claim......

I thought they were primarily anti-Comms for a strong defense against the Soviets? That certainly wouldn't apply, would it?

. . .am wondering why we don't see at least some of this on Fox News; surely these scenes would be a great anti-dote to the venom of CNN et al. . .

. . .am wondering why we don't see at least some of this on Fox News... Good question. Although, I will say this...most of the reporting on the troops I've seen from Fox News has been positive.
I would like to see more of it though...

Don't know if you saw this one. Another item that's not going to get too much play in the media.

The "fewer attacks" prediction is one that seemed to be sadly contradicted when 5 G.I.'s were killed in the first day or so after the death of the 2 sons. Does that seem to be just a coincidence, or some other reason?
I do wish they would honor those killed since the end of the more traditional part of the war. Remember when they would show each one & give some info about them? Now they don't even mention their names. And they are so young, and such heroes.

What I like to see is Hitchens on the ground out there - "men of letters" tend to view from a height rather too much and can end up with the silliest misapprehensions of what the military is really like. Hitchens has now met them. You do not meet these people and walk away unimpressed.

"fewer attacks"
Every day, our soldiers round up or kill a few more of these attackers and confiscate their weapons. I expect the attacks to taper off slowly over the next two or three months. I don't think the deaths of the two sons will have an immediate impact one way or the other.
