My guess is that this attempt is dead, unless the GOP someone successfully induces one way or another one Dem senator to return to Texas. I doubt very much that will happen. The 11 have crossed the Rubicon. It will be difficult for any of them to recross, without looking like a sellout. I suspect the GOP tried behind the curtain to induce two Dem senators to stay in the state, and landed only one. The Texas GOP has played the its last trump card, and is now running on empty. The only silver lining is that I could be wrong. That does happen once in awhile. :)

Actually, the last trump card is for Governor Perry to continue to call special session after special session. The Democrats eventually have to come home because they cannot afford to stay away from their homes and livelihoods indefinitely. As we only have a part-time legislature with a salary of only $7200, the legislators have to have outside income.

Lots of time yet for one to have to come back to Texas for something.... family, work, business, etc..... I think it's too earlier to say one won't cross back.....
