Davis is told: No trash talk By Gary Delsohn -- Bee Capitol Bureau Published 2:15 a.m. PDT Friday, August 1, 2003 Attorney General Bill Lockyer issued a stern warning to fellow Democrat Gov. Gray Davis on Thursday: Run the kind of "trashy ... puke" campaign you did last year and a lot of prominent Democrats will vote to recall you and give the job to Republican Richard Riordan. Lockyer acknowledged in a 90-minute breakfast interview with The Bee Capitol Bureau that Riordan has not yet declared his candidacy.

"He's a desperate and despicable man," then-South San Francisco Assemblywoman Jackie Speier said at the time. "I'm embarrassed to call him a Democrat."

Yet, Ms. Speier, calling him a Democrat suits him perfectly.

Hustler Publisher to Run in Calif. Recall
Yahoo News ^ | August 1, 2003 | AP
Posted on 08/01/2003 7:31 AM PDT by Toidylop

LOS ANGELES - Porn king Larry Flynt wants to rule California. The Hustler magazine publisher paid the $3,500 fee required to run in the gubernatorial recall election and says he may spend a large amount of his own money if people take his candidacy seriously.

The registered Democrat, civil libertarian and free speech advocate said he'd solve California's budget woes by expanding slot machine gambling. His holdings include several casinos.

"California is the most progressive state in the union," said Flynt, 61. "I don't think anyone here will have a problem with a smut peddler as governor."

More than 200 people statewide have taken the very first step of filing the required paperwork with county registrars. Other quirky candidates include several men named Gray Davis and Angelyne, the blonde, buxom artist made famous by her depiction on numerous Hollywood billboards.

Flynt is among about 50 aspiring politicians who have paid the nonrefundable fee. To get on the Oct. 7 ballot, declared candidates also need 65 to 100 signatures from voters registered in their party...

Simon won because he was the conservative. He won by over 18%! As I said Davis may have nudge that up a couple of points, but Simon would have won regardless.

Agree wholeheartedly.

the most outrageous peice of puke journalism occurred in the los angeles times of may, 1998. in a front page article the times accused daryl issa of killing his business partner in indiana.
IMHO, let Riordan attract the "Anybody But Gray Davis" RAT vote.
The "Broken Glass CONSERVATIVES" - whose turnout will determine this election - will never vote for him.
We need to all get behind ONE conservative candidate, and if Tom McClintock decides NOT to run, then my advice to Bill Simon remains the same:

Why Bill Simon should do the RIGHT thing, and endorse Darrell Issa:
CA GOP's "shock and awe" option

. . . . Dear Bill,

. . . . Tomorrow you will face the most important decision in your political life: to run, or NOT to run in the recall election to replace Gray Davis.

. . . . Please do NOT run.

. . . . In fact, I contend that your duty to your Party and your duty to your State demand MUCH STRONGER action from you. I sincerely believe that you need to act BOLDLY (amazing your friends, and confounding your enemies) by endorsing Darrell Issa for Governor of California - NOW, before the recall election even begins.

. . . . You had your shot, last year. You fought the good fight, and proved to the world that you were a worthy contender. But you lost...

Lockyer's comments should be proof enough that Dickie Rear-end is more in tune with the Demo'Rat pukes than Davis is. A pox on them all.

Exactamundo. Riordan was his own worst enemy during the primary. The free-fall was happening before Gray Davis jumped into the fray.

Ann, as a native Californian, I and the rest of the CA electorate have to take responsibility for the demise of the state. I have worked hard for years trying to get Republicans elected and have not been as successful as I should have been or would have liked. There are hundreds of thousands of Californians who have failed to vote and and an equal number who have been uninformed on the issues and/or candidates who have then voted incorrectly. But like the fellow says you get the public servant you deserve. Now is the time for all Californians to start paying attention and learn as much about the candidates and the issues as possible. I have never been a fan of Riordan. I feel that a so called "moderate" Republican does more damage to the party and their office than good. A so called "moderate" is pliable on their positions and convictions. And when the rubber hits the road, the "moderate" Republican cannot be counted on to make the Republican platfrom decision. What you wind up with is a weak candidate, a weak office holder and a weak performance. And after they term of office expires, the "moderate" Conservative has left themself an easy target. It is quite obvious that Riordan would be a member of any party that he could to get elected. Turncoats in the GOP are the last thing we need.

It looks like new Daddy Lockyer is getting ready to toss his hat in the ring, imho.

This is gonna be fun and funny the next few days as the Rats try and cover all the leaks in their tippy canoe.

The Sanchez twit from OC is trying to get DiFi to run so she can have DiFi's senate seat, the ultimate laugh, what is she smoking?

I heard that about Riordan sounding out the demRtas yesterday, He IS the ultimate sleezeball in my book.

Sanchez is biting at the bit. If DiFi runs then Sanchez wants to be appointed to her senate seat. If DiFi doesn't run she hopes Willie Brown will annoint her to be governor. Either job is a stepping stone to president. It will be interesting to see what the people who call W stupid say about LS when and if she runs. IQ of a rock.

Lockyer's public chastisement of Davis is huge. Huge.

Equally huge is the decision of Gray's flack, South, to fire back publicly. With all due credit to the Hon. Nancy Pelosi, Gray is toast.

Am I the only one that heard that partisan hack Loretta Sanchez deny she had any interest in the Gov, because "she had a good job know that she enjoys" on 640 John and Ken yesterday!? Only wanted Feinstien to run (so that she could take her seat in the Senate)

About the same time Lockyer was making his comments, U.S. Rep. Loretta Sanchez, D-Garden Grove, who has been urging U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein to put her name on the ballot, suggested she might enter the race.

"I would never rule anything out," Sanchez said in an interview with KCBS television in Los Angeles. [You did yesterday afternoon in your blowup with John and Ken lady]"It depends on how we are doing, and it depends on what choices we have."

This disgusting political operative makes me sick. I hope she does run, breaks ranks and isolates herself in the party, then gets booted out by the good people of Garden Grove in 04. Shame on you Garden Grove for replacing Bob Dornan with this Democrate.

Don't underestimate her. She is showing herself EXTREMELY ambitious and opportunistic (didn't she ride her sister's name into Congress).

Don't call her a rock, she's smart. In a wholey corrupt and evil way.

Her sister rode her name, her maiden name that is. Lorreta was the one who "defeated" Dornan.
