The Dems HATED Nixon, from wat before he was V.P. and that hatred only grew expotentially, as the years went by. Their soul consumming hatred didn't do much in the way of stopping his presidential elections and neither will this group do much to derail President Bush's re-election. They haven't even managed to change their tactics, in all of these years.

The ONLY thing Nixonian about President Bush, is that like Nixon, it looks like his Dem opponent, in '04, will also be an " I'M GOING TO RAISE YOUR TAXES DEM " too. LOL

I think a few might have voted for Bush - but I think most of them would have just stayed home.

"They hate him because they decided he was a political lightweight who was stupid."

And they don't like looking more stupid than they still think he is.

Good point!

Recently, I have been using the saying "former impeached president", instead of using the name Clinton.

It's a recipe for a Mondale-level defeat, and I look quite forward to it.

I would like to see a combination of a Republican presidential route like 1972 or 1984 and a congressional route like 1994.

Should it be the Impeached former president?

I am far from being the grammer police .. just look at my posts for proof .. *L*

But the way you have it sounds like he is no longer impeached and I'd really hate to take that title away from him

And if Dean wins in '04, opening bid for Hillary in '08' or perhaps '12' since she'll be his running mate.

I would think there would be an opening for Hillary sometime after 12:00 pm EST January 20, 2007, because if Hillary were Vice-President she could be in office as President up to ten years if something happened to the President. You should reread the 25th amendment again.

"But it still doesn't compare to how they hated Nixon."

True, but he is still on his first term-give them time.

The left hardly knew W before he was elected President. Nixon on the other hand has been hated by the left ever since he entered politics. Nixon came to prominence exposing communists like Alger Hiss while on HUAC. He then defeated incumbent Senator Helen Gahagan Douglas (D-CA) in 1950. He survived a scandal designed to destroy his political carreer when he made his famous "Checker's speach" while running for Vice President. The list goes on. Nixon was reviled by the left long before he was elected in 1968 or reelected in 1972.

>>>The polling data does not confirm your hypothesis. Perot voters would have split roughly 50:50 between Clinton and Bush I.

Not that its important at this point, but I remember most exit polling from 1992, indicated Perot pulled more from Bush41, then from Clinton.

I quick Google check turned up this stat. From Time Magazine, July.2,1996.
43% of Perot voters were independents,
31% were Republicans,
26% were Democrats.

Of course there are other figures that give a different picture of the 1992 election outcome.

Granted, Bush41 was no Reagan, but America would have been better off, if he had been re-elected in 1992. The recession that occured under the term of Bush41, was short in duration and mild in its effects. In fact, GDP growth in the 4th quarter of 1992, was a strong 4.5%. Clinton did a skillful job of lying and deceiving the American people about economic conditions in the country. They don't call him "Slick Willie" for nothing.

These so-called screw ups by Bush41, can easily be explained. First off, there was no plan to march north and take Baghdad from Saddam Hussein in 1991. Hindsight is always 20-20. The deal Bush41 made with the Democrat's in 1990, was for marginal tax rates to increase, while federal spending was to be cut. The Democrat's didn't stick to their half of the unwritten deal. Bad move by Bush41. Never trust a Democrat. In that regard, Dubya knows better then the old man. And no POTUS can ever know how a Supreme Court appointee will turn out years later.

You may view these as excuses for Bush41`s inability to get re-elected. I don't. Bush41 was a bad candidate, whose health was also questionable. Bush41 simply didn't have the fire in the belly it took to get re-elected, even though Clinton and Perot were viewed as second rate candidates.

The abortion issue, for instance, has already come full circle. Unlike ten years ago, more Americans are now against abortion than are for it today. Well, the Dems have been for abortion since before Roe v Wade, and they don't have a new direction to go in now that their old view has become the minority one.

It looks like abortion is a self-defeating issue for the 'RATS. Rabid supporters of unrestricted abortion seem to be reproducing themselves at a slower rate than the rest of the population. The demographics can only get worse for the 'RATS over time

The dem. party is still in the clutches of the Clintons, nothing will change with them until we see bill& hill out, and mcauliff out. I can't believe he didn't resign after the '02 cycle.

The 'RATS are between Iraq and hard place. Hitlery is only 55 years old, and McAwful is only 44. The Clintons and their henchmen will be around for at least two more decades.

I sadly have two older Boomer siblings who fit this description to a "T". So it isn't any brilliant insight - all I have to do is listen to them during the holidays.

"Hitlery is only 55 years old..."

She looks awful, doesn't she? She needs a trip to a spa or something.

I'm afraid you're right about them being around for a while. But, they did very poorly the last time around, hopefully they will fail with Davis too. They can stay as long as they like, as long as they remain losers.

I think that Dean is wise to them, remember his remark about the DNC, I forget exactly what he said, but it was definately anti-McAuliff. He only said it once, tho'. I guess somebody got to him, as they say.
