"Trois-Rivieres is the grooviest city I have ever visited "

Oh, we have a great country... too bad we've abandoned common sense and let the socialists take control.

Basically what happened in Canada is that our one political party representing the "Conservative" lense fractured into multiple groups... some going over to support the psuedo-Liberal Paul Martin (who is just as bad as Chretien), some forming the Reform party and later the Canadian Conservative Reform Alliance and others staying in the PC Party.

Enter in socialist fringe groups like David Orchards anti-free trade, anti globalization protestors and you have a recipe for disaster... allowing the socialist Liberals to win time and time again.

Same thing may be happening here. Our strict-constructionist-type conservatives (of which I am one) are not exactly thrilled with our free-spending president. Some of the cracks in the Republican front may be starting to deepen. I personally think that it's in part because the Republicans are in power - we don't have to unite to defeat a common enemy. Idle hands, and all that.

You do have a lovely country. I have been to Toronto and the Bowmanville/Oshawa area previously, and when I got back from there I kept telling everybody how wonderful Canada was. Trois-Rivieres just blew me away, though. I want to take a real vacation there sometime soon.
