But are many firms really doing this? I doubt it. Besides, it's tough to do online research on broad topics; online research is generally only good when looking for specific cases and Shepardizing, and is an attorney in Chicago seriously going to contact someone in India to find a specific case or to Shepardize something? I can't imagine so.

I have no idea concerning outsourcing.

But most research is just to find the cases that you already know are out there to buttress your position.

Most research is not for "ground breaking" reversals of established law.

It is more a ministerial function than a real "research" task.
