Even though I dont' remember the 40s, or earlier, I've spent years infrming myself on the various aspects of the "isms" - thanks to a commie-pinko uncle who, when I was a child, used to send me tons of books, pamphlets, and other books on Communism etc... I grew up hating Communism, in all it's various forms, with a passion...

Did you read
Radical Son, Chad? (I seem to recall that you have.) I hated communism my whole life, too; as an adult, for me, reading that book was a serious eye-opener in terms of becoming aware of the goals and methods of its followers.
Scary stuff. You can actually see them succeeding in some ways (infiltrating the education system, defining themselves in positive terms, etc.), and it is frightening.
