I've noticed that the blacks down here shorten "fixin' to" even further to "f'in'a."

AHA! So that's what that means. LOL, I have heard people say that, I always took it for some human grunting, like Tim "the tool man" Taylor would do.

Now I get it. It's like the old joke about New Yorkers:

j'eet yet? no, j'ew?

Translation: Did you eat yet? No, did you?
