Please, 1984, take me back!!!!! Ahhh yes. When the future was so bright, I had to wear shades.
Sorry, can't rewind; we've gone too far.

Seeing all these pictures from outside the VMAs reminds me of when I used to work at the AP, which is directly connected to the other side of Radio City Music Hall (so much so that we used to sit in the fire exit stairwells at night, smoke cigarettes and listen to the concerts on the other side of the wall). The day of the VMAs were always the single worst day of the year to work, because they close off almost everything for a two-block radius to kiss the asses of these elitist scumbags, and try to force us working people to play the "Your papers, please!" game in order to even get into the area. Every time a cop pulled that on me, I just looked right at his nameplate and said, "You want me to present ID to *prove* I work for the AP and have a 'right' to enter a public building, officer X? Wow, this'll make a great story, you guys refusing to let regular joes get to work so that rock stars can play!" Then I'd start reaching for my wallet *and* a notebook at the same time, and the cop would just wave me through without fail before I got a chance to open either one. That happened several years in a row.
I never bothered to tell the cops that I worked in the financial data department.
