The secret evidence is irrelevant. Nobody is denying his guilt. However, the plea bargain agreement is indeed an issue, but not one that should inspire legions of supporters. Regardless, the more Israel presses this issue, the more likely Pollard will die in prison. The president cannot afford to appear to cave in on a national security issue. If it was off the radar screen for a few years, his release would likely occur... quitly as possible. If the release does occur, it better come with an agreement from Israel to NEVER turn an American into a traitor again.

The secret evidence is irrelevant. Hardly. The verdict of the court and reneging of the agreement was done because of it.

Regardless, the more Israel presses this issue, the more likely Pollard will die in prison

The only reason this is being heard again is because of the volume of complaint about it.

If the release does occur, it better come with an agreement from Israel to NEVER turn an American into a traitor again.

That was the only reason that he has been abused in the first place. His punishment has been far and away the harshest of any spy of a similar nature. If his release does occur, it is only because his value as a hostage has been somehow reduced. With the large amount of espianage that goes on here from all directions, I doubt seriously that there has been any reduction in activity.
