A judge has the privelige of setting courtroom rules. He/she can mandate dress code, disallow the press, deny cell phone usage etc.

Persons who show disrespect for the court are usually punished heavily.

Not to mention she got jailed without a trial, as if she were a danger to the public. Perhaps there ought to be some punishment doled out for having a cell phone in court, but this is way over the top.

In courtroom, Judge is absolute dictator. Can jail anyone for contempt under Anglo Saxon common law. This is only problem if jurisdiction extends too far out of courtroom. I think judge not goes far enough, however. Perhaps a warning to be posted for ear amputation in case of violation of court solemnity.
