As much as I dislike telemarketers, the judge might be right. I don't see how telemarketers can be singled out and let politicians and charities continue to call anyone they please with their solicitations.

This may all work out for the best. Given the way the public is screaming for the telemarketers' heads on spits, Congress may be forced to overcome the new ruling by passing a loophole-free version of the DNC law.

1) Just like telemarketers having to dial your number, CNN has to send out a signal
2) Who’s really more misleading about their motives, CNN or the latest mortgage broker?
3) Walking down the street’s also a necessity.
4) Answering someone while walking down the street is also and interuptance. Neither is as significant as an interruption in power or water.

My guess is that Congress will do just that tomorrow, while grinding their molars down to the size of grape seeds, in order to save their political skins.

Previously, companies had to have their own "do not call list" but it was hard to regulate when the company says "you never told us to put you on that list".

Especially when they evade such requests by Clintonian parsing (e.g. they interpret "take me off your list" as a request to be removed from the comapny's Do Not Call list) and by hanging up before you can finish the sentence "Place this number on your Do Not Call list."

This is not a relevant distinction. Unwanted door-to-door peddlers are required to stay out of a rented apartment every bit as much as they are required to stay out of an owner-owned house.
