O'Conner was probably one of the finest male dancers in Hollywood during the musical era, and was never recognized for it..

Agreed. Both he and Cagney (Yankee Doodle Dandy) never got the credit they deserved for their dancing talent.

Plus, am I the only one who thought the Francis the Mule movies were funny as hell? Sophisticated, no, but funny.

O'Connor and Cagney were definetly two of the best who were never given their due in that area. Another fun song and dance routine was O'Connor and Bing Crosby in Anything Goes.

The Francis movies were great fun!!!

And his recreation of the comedy routines in The Buster Keaton Story was right on target.

Well, Cagney did get the Academy Award for "Yankee Doodle Dandy" rather than for playing a gangster.

"You dirty rat. You sang that off-key. Now I'm going to show you how to sing really high."
