Where is the barf alert?

The truth of the Gospel is always going to be offensive to some:
1 Cor. 1:21-25 (ESV)
For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. [22] For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, [23] but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, [24] but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. [25] For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
Mel Gibson is not an "anti-semite", this is shown in the fact that his only on screen role in the film is as the hand holding the nails. He knows that it was Mel Gibson, in his sin, who nailed Christ to the cross, and not the Jews or Romans alone.

It hurt my eyes to look at this article, so I might have missed it, but does this guy claim to have actually seen the movie?
Sed it before, and I'll say it again: Satan *really* has his panties in a wad over this movie.
Well done, Mr. Gibson.

dear rabbi, If you knew anything about christ, or those who follow him, you would know we are commanded to love our jewish brothers. Alas, you make the same mistake your forefathers made. Are you sure your not just upset because we call him the messiah?

Amazing the level of ignorance demonstrated here, no?

I hadn't heard it was Gibson's hand holding the nails.
He's a very intelligent man.

kooky religious fundamentalistIt's a sad day when the 2,000-year-old Gospel story of Jesus Christ's death is labeled "kooky."

"Is there really a more serious charge against a people than that they killed G-d? Saying the Jews killed Jesus is to make every Jew the anti-Christ, possessed of dark, demonic forces."
He obviously isn't much of a Talmudic scholar either. The Talmud states clearly that it was the Jewish authorities who arranged the trial and campaigned for Jesus' death. Are the authors of the Talmud anti-semites too?
"In his place has arisen a kooky religious fundamentalist who seems intent on reversing the reforms of Vatican II, which officially absolved the Jews of deicide, and who seems intent on convincing the world that, indeed, the Jews killed Jesus."
The Jews are just as culpable of deicide as the rest of us sinners out here. Why does this guy think they get a pass from humanity's common condition of sinfulness before GOD?
The Blood of Jesus will always be both a blessing and a curse. A blessing for those who receive Him and a curse for those who reject Him.

Mel Gibson and the Holocaust
Jews who want to crucify Mel Gibson (producer/director of the new movie "The Passion of Christ") for remarks putting the Holocaust in context are wrong.
The Nazis killed 6 million Jews in concentration camps and rural ditches. The Nazis also killed 6 million disabled, gays, Roma (gypsies), and political opponents. They worked slave labourers from the East to death. These are no less crimes than killing Jews.
In the 20th century, more millions of civilians died in the USSR, Cambodia, China, Ruanda-Burundi, India, Pakistan, the Balkans, and many other places, deliberately killed because of their religion, race, class, caste, tribe or political leanings.
In millennia past, many more victims were massacred by conquerors. Jews have no monopoly on suffering, Nazis no monopoly on terror.
It is wrong everywhere whenever people are suspected and persecuted because of their religion, race, class, caste, tribe or political leanings. We must recognise and fight any such tendency in other countries, and especially in our own country and our own heart.

Why not? Are you a holocaust denier too? //sarcasm off//
To: joobers
Saying the Jews killed Jesus is to make every Jew the anti-Christ,.... No it doesn't.
Besides Shmuley, YOU'RE the one saying "the Jews" (thereby implying all Jews) killed Jesus. Mel never said that.
Another "rebbe" making strawman arguments.

Nothing but rotten dirty holocaust deniers - every one of them. And as for Jesus - he wasn't the Messiah, he was just a very naughty boy!

I checked out some of this guy's articles on Beliefnet, and he's not a kook. He seems to be an intelligent, well reasoned columnist.
What I think we are witnessing is a group of people who are allowing their cultural paranoia, which is quite understandable considering their history, to cloud their judgment in the matter of this film.
The idea of a visual recounting of the Gospel inciting modern Christians to animosity toward or violence against Jews is nutty, totally out of touch with reality.
The modern anti-semites are moslems and their leftist soul-mates, and they're not going to view this film.
To: joobers
"Calling someone an anti-Semite is about as big an insult as one can hurl, and I for one am forever careful in its usage."
Sure.
"In his place has arisen a kooky religious fundamentalist who seems intent on reversing the reforms of Vatican II, which officially absolved the Jews of deicide, and who seems intent on convincing the world that, indeed, the Jews killed Jesus."
But a calumny seems to be just fine with you.

What I think we are witnessing is a group of people who are allowing their cultural paranoia, which is quite understandable considering their history, to cloud their judgment in the matter of this film.
And *who* or *what* would be responsible for this clouding of judgement? Hmmmmm.
He began to teach them
that the Son of Man must suffer greatly
and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes,
and be killed, and rise after three days.
He spoke this openly.
Then Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.
At this he turned around and, looking at his disciples,
rebuked Peter and said, "Get behind me, Satan.
You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do."
While Mel may be prepared to do Jews the favor of deleting a single offensive scene, the whole anti-Semitic message is odious.
The message that matters, a part of which Gibson is trying to relay, is "I am the messiah" and it is THE GOOD NEWS found in the New Testament. Why those who don't believe can't just live with it and get over this fact is absolutely beyond my comprehension. Get lost rabbi... your hateful and slanderous words are *nothing* compared to Christ's!
