I'll tell you what, dude:

Next Wednesday afternoon, I'm going to see it. If you want, I'll give you a report of my impressions.

(The trailer itself is powerful.)

I would sure like to send Antoninus's reply to this fellow. Didn't see an "email" on his site. Guess he is only concerned with others hearing what he has to say huh?

I have one minor thing I've derived from the trailer. In a flashback (apparently), Gibson is going to portray the woman in John 8. That woman will be identified as Mary Magdalene -- or so it appears.

In any film dramatization, some dramatic license is to be expected. Combining characters like that is quite minor (and not an impossibility). I think I see where he's going, and its okay with me.

For our sake, He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.

He descended into Hell.

On the third day, He rose again, in fulfillment of the Scriptures.

_______________________

He was opening the gates of hell, making good on the eternal present of the moment of Redemption, for three days before the Ascension.

There are "fundamentalist" Christians who seem to stray far from the fundamentals of following Christ, in order to criticize the lives and works of other Christians.

Jesus told the disciples not to persecute those who weren't in their group, yet who taught about their Savior.

Amen?

Looks like she has enough problems.
http://www.moriel.org/notice/wolves.htm
"If you want an illustration of the inability to use one's Christian mind, you need look no further than the so-called "Watch unto Prayer" website. Many good discernment ministries have, for some time now, put up with the paranoid and badly researched articles cobbled together by Barbara Aho and Co. One often finds a certain kind of sad individual who -- wanting to hog the limelight and be the only credible ministry around -- smears every "competitor" with dirt. It's the oldest ploy in the book. The further problem is that so many Christians are so brainless as to accept whatever people like that write. If it looks juicy and sensational then it must be correct. And then the network starts buzzing with copied, forwarded and recopied e-mails containing these false claims."

I bet Jody Dean would be very upset with the way he is used in this article. I wonder how accurate those 'quotes' are.

READ THIS DRIBBLE. At least I have her email now.

Dear Alan,

I have the uneasy feeling of being controlled on this "Restricted List." When I signed up I was not told the messages were top secret or "confidential" and did not expect such heavy-handed treatment from the shepherd of this little flock. Why were the conditions for subscription to the restricted list not explained in the initial invitation? Your intimidation of this list reminds me of that found in cults and the New World Order gestapo we now live in fear of. Everyone must do as they're told or the whole list is punished, as in the former Nazi concentration camps. Nor does the tone of your posts reflect the gentle humility which the Lord Jesus commanded His undershepherds to display toward His flock, but an overlording spirit which He warned against as the authoritarian style of the rulers of this world. (Matt. 20:25)

Keeping the list private under the guise of security might also serve an agenda of isolating the little flock and subjecting them to mind control. Separated from outside evaluation of their controlled situation, because they cannot share any information with outsiders, the victims soon come to placidly accept their master's pronouncements and other agendas are advanced without external scrutiny and critique. This is a dangerous situation to which I cannot submit. Please remove my name from your "restricted list" and reconsider your mode of operation. Jesus did nothing in secret, even knowing his life was in danger. (John 18:20) You have stated that we should all expect to be martyred for our faith. (Wouldn't this include our children?) If you believe this, as a Christian leader, you ought to be exhibiting courage instead of fear and paranoia. Certainly the powers that be are already well aware of your ministry. What's there to hide? Why not use the remaining time to build up the flock of Jesus Christ by encouraging them to glorify God -- whether it be in life or death?

Sincerely,

Barbara Aho

Something like that...it's here about half way down. I really liked the response she got.
http://www.moriel.org/notice/wolves.htm

this is soo letting her have it...

AM'S RESPONSE TO AHO'S FIRST LETTER:

Dear Barbara Aho:

What a load of paranoid over-the-top twaddle you just wrote! Really, Barbara! What planet are you living on? It can't be a serious message. When I first read it, I thought that it was a practical joke. You must be taking the mickey, I thought! Then I thought: this woman's actually serious about this!

What IS the matter, Barbara? Are you feeling guilty because you posted on one of my mails (or wanted to)? Had a bad hair day? Stubbed your toe on the bedpost? Discovered that the milk ran out when you'd poured out your Cornflakes®? My imagination runs wild when I try to work out what made you write such an inexplicably weird mail !

Allow me to respond to your rather outrageous statements:-

When I signed up I was not told the messages were top secret or "confidential"...

Er... that's because they aren't! Whoever said that they were? I have sent out a total of 12 mails to the Restricted List, with only ONE containing the request not to pass it on. Right at the beginning, I sent out a mail entitled "Sharing Information", in which I clearly outlined my policy on the sending on of mails. I simply said (and gave reasonable reasons why) that the only mails which I wished to remain within this list were those which I indicated as such. No one else has found that at all unreasonable. I was not a command but an expressed wish. It was not unreasonable to request that.....
