In the New Testament all believers are referred to as "saints."
They were also called saints while still alive. And they did not need a miracle to prove their sainthood.
Rom 1:7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
