The Ascension of Jesus into Heaven
Our Father
Before Jesus was taken up, he gave instructions by the power of the Holy Spirit to the men he had chosen as his apostles. (Acts 1,2)

For forty days after his death he appeared to them many times in ways that proved beyond doubt that he was alive. (Acts 1,3)

Jesus said to them... "when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will be filled with power and you will be witnesses for me in Jerusalem, in all of Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1,8)

After saying this, he was taken up to heaven as they watched him, and a cloud hid him from their sight. (Acts 1,9)

They still had their eyes fixed on the sky as he went away, when two men dressed in while suddenly stood beside them and said,"Galileans, why are you standing looking up at the sky?" (Acts 1,10-11)

There were Jews living in Jerusalem, religious people who had come from every country of the world. When they heard this noise, a large crowd gathered. (Acts 2, 5)

They were all excited because they heard the believers talking in their own language... Amazed and confused, they kept asking each other, "What does this mean?" (Acts 2,12)

Then Peter stood up with the other eleven apostles and in a loud voice began to say to the crowd: "Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, listen to me and let me tell you what this means." (Acts 2,14)

This is what the prophet Joel spoke about: "This is what I will do in the last days, God says: I will pour out my Spirit on everyone." (Acts 2,16)
