People don't like the Bible because it says things they don't like. It's not that they can't figure it what's in the Bible, hey just disagree. It's easy to hide behind the cult of, 'my personal interpretation' is different and who are you to say.

It's all about plucking out what's fashionable and forgetting the rest. I'm not a religious scholar by any means, but I wouldn't be surprised if it hasn't always been this way. It's easier to change the interpretation of the Bible than to change your heart.

Yes, tho this is a handy retort to really torque your adversaries since the above platitude neatly condenses their overall worldview or Weltanschaung. Try it. The next time someone laments some whacked out ideology - genital mutilation, boring holes in the head, etc.; "Well, all cultures are equally valid, we wouldn't want to be ethnocentric you know..." It illustrates why you shouldn't try reasoning or logic - they aren't interested in facts, but rather engaging in a sort of philosophical masturbation that can be codified and ultimately, legislated. You must understand that you are dealing with those who disavow any sort of objective reality, to say nothing of religion. To raise any sort of biblical objection is just asking for abuse and retaliation. They have a plan, and you're part of it.
