2 Corinthians 11:23
Are they ministers of Christ? --I speak as a fool--I am more: in labors more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequently, in deaths often.

2 Corinthians 11:24
From the Jews five times I received forty stripes minus one.

2 Corinthians 11:25
Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep;

2 Corinthians 11:26
in journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils of my own countrymen, in perils of the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;

2 Corinthians 11:27
in weariness and toil, in sleeplessness often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness--

2 Corinthians 11:28
besides the other things, what comes upon me daily: my deep concern for all the churches.
(NKJV)

5 solas!

By "so what" I meant that any fool can add any foolish keyword they want to a thread since the system is not designed to weed out keywords that have no bearing on the thread.

To post rude, inappropriate, misdirecting keywords is a nasty practice and should be discouraged.

Amen.

"Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my glorying of you: I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation...

For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter." -- 2 Corinthians 7:4,11

different posters invent the keywords as they go.

the purpose of a keyword is that it be a reference to help folks retrieve articles on a certain subjuct, so that past comments/thoughts not be lost.

"catholicbashing" has to be a keyword that someone someplace finds important for some reason. Who knows what it is or who it is.

But, I do know they could write down "ethiopianisthebestcoffee" if they wanted, and it wouldn't make a bit of difference and there'd be very few who noticed or cared.

The degeneration of this thread (which began as a "Catholic Caucus" vanity proposal by MarkOMalley) is a perfect example of why my idea (expressed above) will never happen on FR.

Thanks, Carolina, for your idea about the Pontificator blog. Perhaps it will be my next destination? It is undoubtedly a blog with moderated comments that bounces comments by those who would lead discussion into the woods so as to lose the gems posted and real inquiry into a meaningful direction.

Such a sad state of affairs.

I'm not really clear on what this Pontificator blog is all about, but I am interested. Could either of you please clue me in?

Fr. Kimel is taking a sabbatical for Lent. It is understandable. His last entry is well worth reading.

"Evangelical Christian" is in the TOPICS heading of this thread.

How can a thread be a Caucus if it lists other faiths as a topic for discussion?

Kona is too weak a flavor for me. I like a bean with a bit more bite.

For what it's worth, Ethiopia is the home of the coffee bean. The African beans are best, imho, and then come the Pacific Islands.

BTW, I roast my own and with my stock of green beans a bit low, I'm fixin' to buy again real soon.

A real coffee expert with expert comparisons can be found at SweetMarias.com. Check it out. (I'm in no way affiliated with it.)

It seems that the whole idea of labeling everything a caucus is to avoid a differing point of view, just as it is a means of stifling discussion by labeling everything "catholic bashing". I love a heated discussion where you can learn and grow, but if a group can't handle having their "golden calf gored" I don't want to be a "bully".

If a group can't stand the heat of an open discussion, we probably should just leave them alone.

Thanks. I will. We go through a lot of coffee. You must be a serious coffee-drinker if you roast your own beans. I'm impressed. 8~)

I love a good low-acid coffee. Ever try Celebese Kolossi?

I'm not really clear on what this Pontificator blog is all about, but I am interested.

Fr. Al Kimel was an Anglo-Catholic priest who started the blog Pontifications in 2004 to discuss theological issues. Many commentors came from the Orthodox, Lutheran, Anglican backgrounds. Scroll down the page and click on his archives. Click on the comments and read the thoughtful and yes, challenging answers to Fr. Kimel's posts.

Fr. Kimel left the Episcopal Church and was received into the Catholic Church in May 2005 and was ordained under Pastoral Provision in December 2006.

Anyway, Fr. Kimel articulated what a lot of us former Episcopalians were agonizing over and several of us swam the Tiber around the same time he did. His blog became a meeting place of sorts for those of us struggling about where to go.

What passes for rowdy threads on Pontifications would be positively a lovefest here.

I agree that the Indonesian coffees are good in general. I generally go for the Sumatra because I can roast it almost dark. (I have trouble hearing the roasting process and have to rely on visual cutoff.)

The Sulawesis (Celebese) varieties (Kolossi is one I haven't tried) are better right before 2d crack which puts them in this hard place to roast right between brown and oily dark brown.

I'll have to try some. I just saw some Sulawesi for $5.10 a pound.
