Of course which is why it is sage advice NOT to talk about religion with others. I also pretty much avoid the topic of politics in public for the same reason. You almost always end up in arguements that go nowhere.
I don't do it much at all, but I should do it more. My theory is, "plant a seed and walk away." Religion has to do with foundational truths, so I believe that real dialog can bear fruit.
OTOH, politics regards the world of prudence and compromise. So when political arguments arise, I like to try to push the arguments back to first principles, to at least make people aware of their own principles.
