87-year-old Waddell Tucker.

I just had to post that a second time. That's it.

That was convenient. But, they can’t remove their names from the purposedriven.com church finder. At least not as quickly as they can take it down from their website.

I just read that thread, Quix — thanks for trying and when you get this email, you can post the following info, but obviously keep in mind that Rick Warren cannot stop even a Satinist church from using 40 Days of Purpose — we do use the word “sin” and “repent” during weekend service, but as you know, we try to translate those concepts so that un-churched can understand. There’s no “magic words” necessary to present the Gospel.

I double-checked our web site and that church is not an official “Purpose Driven” that we can recommend. The only “Purpose Driven” Church by that name that I find is listed in North Carolina, not Pennsylvania — perhaps he just made an innocent mistake:

No mistake. Go to purposedriven.com. Church finder. Type in Coatesville as the city. Pennsylvania as the state. You will find the church (at least as of this afternoon, it was there).

Now, it is true that Warren can not stop even a satanist (I won’t even give him the respect of capitalizing his name) from using 40 days of purpose; however, there is a pattern of churches across this nation that resort to gestapo like tactics when dealing with their membership. This is not the only purpose driven church that has called the cops to keep members away.

The Wall Street journal did an expose on the flip side of the Purpose Driven phenomenon. It was not a pretty picture.
The more Warren does the less he appears on the up and up. From his CFR connections to his Syria trip to his fratenizing with whatever aberant group comes his way, to his discouragement of worrying about doctrine to his taking Scripture out of context, and YES, to his weak weak “sinners prayer” found in the most popular book of our time- Purpose Driven Life. He is a wolf.

And what is with the phrase “unchurched?” They are unsaved. Sin is offensive. It offends God. The only reason that people are called unchurched is because they don’t “like” being called sinners. But until you recognize the true depth of ugliness of your sin and how it offends God you can NOT be saved. You have to realize how totally you have fallen before you can cry out “God, lift me up.”

Warren, Hybels, and now Brian McClaren are pulling people further and further from Scripture. Scripture is our only bedrock of truth. It is by which all other “truths” in our lives are evaluated. If we don’t have it, we have NOTHING!

Dear Quix, I know that you will one day get to the point you can not defend RW and his ilk any more, because I know you are a man of integrity and a man who loves the God of Scripture. I don’t hold a single thing against you for trying to defend him. Sometimes he comes off pretty well. I’m just trying to say “watch out. Danger. Be careful.”

By the way, I’m not sure if you consider yourself a fundamentalist; but if you do, Rick Warren is warning folks about you too and lumping you with radical islamicists. It’s not good, dear friend. Not at all.

PS- here is what the PD website has:

Tabernacle Baptist Church (Baptist - Unspecified/other) Coatesville PA 85 40 Days of Purpose: 40 Days of Purpose - Full Church-Wide Campaign

I respect you as a person and as a Christian brother.

I’m not interested in joining your assaults on JW.

God will be his judge quite sufficiently.

God will deal with whatever needs dealt with quite sufficiently.

Matthew 18 deals with this - the church leaders need to bring it before the entire church, publicly call the pastor to resign and if he doesn’t then he needs to be fired. Problem is, you most likely get “followers of the pastor” who will side with him and if its enough, then you get a split church! God is not honored and the pride of a man goes before the fall every time.

Liberals dare to compare Fundamentalists to the Taliban terrorists, yet they say nothing when a church threatens to have their own members arrested.

I agree. (matthew 18 doesn’t apply though to false teaching — and we can skip the ‘going to him in private’ since this was a public incident).

Anyway, yeah create a split. But by the time it gets to this point, they’ve been so indoctrinated against EVER looking in the least like they might be causing division (never mind that it is the pastor and his false teaching which is causing it, they’re just pointing it out!), that they are often paralyzed.

Some congregation members told NBC 10 that they have not liked the way Pastor Finkley runs the church or how he conducts himself from the pulpit. When they tried to oust Finkley as they say it states they can in the church bylaws, their vote has been interrupted and not allowed to continue.

Any ideas? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Ummm ...... Take the matter all the way up to the Pope? ;-)

Heh heh. Rick has already said he ‘doesn’t endorse’ this kind of behavior. Except that he does, in many articles on Pastors.com and books for which he writes glowing forewords and endorsements!

Those pastors obviously didn’t get their “vision” from God. Their “visions” are like the “visions” of the false prophets mentioned in the Bible. Besides that, God doesn’t speak through visions today. He speaks to His people through the Bible, the Holy Spirit, and other Christians.

Having attended churches like this in recent years, I know exactly what the pastor and the board are doing. They are setting themselves up for a harsh punishment for scattering the flock.
