I’m Southern Baptist. We were mostly Fred here and Romney after that.
We don’t accept Mormonism entirely probably but that doesn’t make us bigots or incapable of supporting one for POTUS.
Had Romney been true blue Mormon all along he probably would have fared better but he was low Sodium Salt Lake.
Huckabee whooped him because we were fractured with too many candidates, strange early primary rules which favored moderates and independents...even Dems, and Romney simply didn’t have the social conservatism credentials even though in my view Romney was no less conservative overall.
Huckabee gave folks a here a chance to vent their natural snottiness towards social conservatism in my region and the Mormon talk came later.

You mean he “whooped” him in the southern states, right? Because Romney had a significant # more votes than The Huckster and after dropping out, still has more delegates.

LDS scripture (which includes the bible) teaches that we are all spirit children of our Heavenly Father (God), this includes Jesus Christ and Satan, which makes them spirit brothers.
Longer Answer:
Same as above + LDS scriptures also talks about the great plan of salvation including the notion that life on earth is a test to see if we will choose good or choose evil of our own free will. The LDS teach of a pre-earthly conflict between two groups championing different philosophies. One group led by Satan, pushed the idea of coercion, IE, force everyone to be good and not a single soul will be lost during the testing on earth, and by the way, since it was my great idea, give me (Satan) all the glory. The larger group led by Jesus Christ, championed the idea of free will, that in order for the test on earth to be fair, and thus meaningful, each person had to choose good or evil for himself/herself and let the glory for the accomplishments go to God to whom it belongs. Jesus then volunteered to come to earth and sacrifice himself to make it possible for all of us who choose to to wash away our sins thru the atonement by repentance. God picked Jesus's plan which led to a war in heaven where 1/3 of God's spirit children (IE Satan's group) were cast out for their pride/hubris and have been tempting us here on earth ever since.
Positive Spin: Mormon's are strong believers in freedom because of their religious teachings.
Neutral Spin: Mormon's plan of salvation (freewill/faith/repentance/atonement/works/obedience) is very different from other christian churches (faith/repentance/atonement) because of their belief in additional scripture besides the bible
