Vicious indeed. From what I have seen that is the sixth sola... sola viciousness.

In case you’re interested, I’m not Catholic. I’m amazed at how a man can do something very good on one hand, but then do something terribly evil on the other.

In varying degrees, we all are simultaneously both sinful and saintly in our behavior. It is called “the human condition.” But “saintly” behavior does not save us from the judgements of a righteous God, who despises even the least (as we humans might judge)of our sins. His gracious remedy is revealed clearly in Romans, as Luther attested, and also in Ephesians 2:8,9, my personal favorite.

God, who despises even the least (as we humans might judge)of our sins.

I found this in Isaiah:

I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.

And this in Romans:

Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

Kathrine (Katy) was the one that became his wife. He tried to marry her off to a number of other men, who would meet her and then send her back. When Martin asked “Well, then who will you marry?” She said “YOU!”.

My father likes to joke that Katy became the standard of what all Lutheran Grandmothers were measured by.

Vicious falsehood.

I see you like to rewrite history. The peasants were not allowed to own Bibles during most of the middle ages.

He who grounds his faith on Scripture only has no faith

I think that you have a gross misunderstanding of Luther. Faith comes through the Holy Spirit and we are justifed by faith, period. The scripture is God's word. What do you believe?

And what terrible evil do Luther do?

The peasants could not afford Bibles during the middle ages.

We are justified by Grace alone, not faith alone. Faith is an act of man. Grace is an act of God.

Ah yes, by their fruits they will be known. I rest my case.

You are gaining an audience, Hans Wurst. Telling satan to go to hell is certainly no sin.

That's precisely my point: they are not IN the Bible.

I suggest you read John 1 for starters.

I’ve already read John 1. That garbage is not there, or anywhere else in Scripture.

Ok, I see where you are going. We are justified by grace through faith. It is but by the grace of God that I have faith.

The peasants could not afford Bibles during the middle ages.

That may or may not be true, but it is besides the point. The Vatican made it illegal for the Bible to be owned by the peasants.

OK, so what else besides scripture is important in your view?

I'm sure you can prove that.

LOL

No you don’t see where I am going because you don’t know what a Catholic believes, nor do you understand it.

We are justified through Grace alone. This is the teaching (and the Truth) of the Church. Faith is a work, an act of man. There is nothing we, as men, can do to merit salvation. It is only by the Grace of God we are saved. It is as simple as that. We can accept or reject that Grace, but it is His Grace that saves, not our faith.

I'm sure you can prove that.

"A History of Christianity", Paul Johnson is one source.
