LOL...did you bother to take time to read the site, particularly regarding the board of advisors?
They aren't hiding their connections to the mormon church, and a few seconds glancing over the listings under the heading "Doctrinal Study" tells the tale...."Premortal Existence", "Eternal Families", "Godhead/Trinity".
It very well might be, as some of the discussions on it are of an LDS nature, but it's not sanctioned by the LDS church, nor is it done by the LDS church.
Oh, we get it...it isn't canon.
This poster has deliberately changed the site and is misleading the intent of the thread.
Since I posted the thread, my intent is to show that this site, slyly named "Christian Studies" is a fraudulent attempt to present LDS theology as Christian.....nothing misleading about the "intent of the thread"!
I would expect more honesty, especially in an intentionally open anti Mormon thread.
Oh, yeah...tell me all about the "honesty" of that site.
That is EXACTLY the message being sent! Good for you!
I've said it before... there is plenty you guys can find fault in us, why go to these obscure sites to find ammo?
I'm done with this thread.
Thanks. I just missed the added word.
msnbc must be excerpted.
OOPS! I will repost.
Not sure if there’s any point in commenting on this thread.
The Jesus of Mormon belief is not compatible, either historically or theologically, with the Jesus of Christians, as that word was understood up until the founding of the LDS church and has generally been understood since. There are many disputes among Christians, but they are of a different nature from the division between Christians and Mormons.
But this does not appear to be an official LDS website. So, what’s the point in arguing with these tendentious claims? Mormons are entitled to their beliefs even if we, as Catholics, Orthodox, or Protestants, believe them to be wrong. And we are entitled to our beliefs.
You want honesty seven? Check out this article from MSNBC.com. Excerpted per FR rules.
There is NO mention in this article that the website is maintained by and dedicated to mormon beliefs...in fact it is carefully worded to AVOID those facts.
Tell me that the mormon leaders are not aware of this site and its INTENT!
If you want honesty, I call upon you, as a good priesthood holder to take this to the leaders in SLC and make them aware of the fraudulent practices shown here.
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - The Foundation for Christian Studies (FCS), a non-profit organization dedicated to the study and awareness of Christian theology, values, and service, today launched its global website at www.studychristianity.org. The FCS website includes a comprehensive doctrinal study program, downloadable theological essays, interactive discussion forums, and online stores for Christian books, music, and art. While the primary mission of the FCS is to encourage the study of Christianity, the FCS also commits itself to supporting outstanding global charities in hopes of inspiring ongoing Christian service.
"The Foundation delivers easy to understand and use Christian study content and interactive discussion platforms for people around the world -- regardless of theological differences," says Eric Shuster, the Foundation's Founder and Executive Director.
And we are called upon to bring to light deceptive practices aimed at unsuspecting folks who are looking for information on Christian beliefs.
It’s best to remain in faith through Christ and let God define it as He reveals it.
It seems to me that there are more open threads than caucus, prayer and devotional threads combined. It also seems that caucus, prayer and devotional threads don't generally get as may replies as open threads. The qualifier, "by far," seems quite strange.
Just for clarification the LDS believes that this is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and NOT another denomination or spawns from a previous one, it is the restoration of The Church of Jesus Christ that was taken from the earth after the last apostle.
9 We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
So whether from an official site (defined by you and other ldsers) or and un-offical site (defined by you and other ldsers) the information is incorrect or distorted.
When people who where raised in lds and left (defined by you and other ldsers) are liars and deceivers state their expert opinion they are dismissed.
When people quote directly from the BoM they are called liars and deceivers unless it is quoted by a current member of lds, there is castigation by you and others that the responders are just trying to cause trouble.
However, you and other ldsers can quote actual Biblical scripture with zero understanding of the Word or its historical content and you expect total agreement and acceptance.
I am so confused. It appears that what you and other ldsers say at any given moment is "true" but don't depend on it being "true" next time because thats a different moment. Don't depend on historical documents and the BoM for response because that only means what you and other ldsers want it to mean at any given moment.
Is that the way we play, today anyway, could change at any given moment.

FIRST: MORMONISM REJECTS MANY ESSENTIAL CHRISTIAN DOCTRINES
I suggest you check out the article: We're Christians just like you! wherein the author presents a number of well-annotated examples.

SECOND: THE MORMON CHURCH UNEQUIVOCALLY CONDEMNS CHRISTIANS AND CHRISTIANITY
And the angel of God said unto me: Behold there are save two churches only; the one is the church of the Lamb of God, and the other is the church of the devil; wherefore, whoso belongeth not to the church of the Lamb of God belongeth to that great church, which is the mother of abominations; and she is the whore of all the earth. And it came to pass that I looked and beheld the whore of all the earth, and she sat upon many waters; and she had dominion over all the earth, among all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people. Book of Mormon, 1 Nephi 14:10-11If still not convinced, you can find many more similar quotes of Mormon leaders slamming Christians HERE and HERE.My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join. No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the Personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right (for at this time it had never entered into my heart that all were wrong) and which I should join. I was answered by God that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: "they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof." He again forbade me to join with any of them Prophet Joseph Smith, Joseph Smith History 1:18-20
Christianity...is a perfect pack of nonsense...the devil could not invent a better engine to spread his work than the Christianity of the nineteenth century. Prophet Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 6, p.167
The Christian world, so-called, are heathens as to the knowledge of the salvation of God. Prophet Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 8:171
Brother Taylor has just said that the religions of the day were hatched in hell. The eggs were laid in hell, hatched on its borders, and then kicked on to the earth." Prophet Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 6:176
Where shall we look for the true order or authority of God? It cannot be found in any nation of Christendom. Prophet John Taylor, Journal of Discourses, 10:127
Are Christians ignorant? Yes, as ignorant of the things of God as the brute beast. Prophet John Taylor, Journal of Discourses 13:225
What does the Christian world know about God? Nothing ... Why so far as the things of God are concerned, they are the veriest fools; they know neither God nor the things of God. Prophet John Taylor, Journal of Discourses 13:225
The Book of Mormon remains secure, unchanged and unchangeable but with the Bible it was not and is not so it was once in the sole and exclusive care and custody of an abominable organization (Christianity), founded by the devil himself, likened prophetically unto a great whore, whose great aim and purpose was to destroy the souls of men in the name of religion. In these hands it ceased to be the book it once was. Apostle Bruce R. McConkie, The Joseph Smith Translation, pp. 12, 13
In bearing testimony of Jesus Christ, President Hinckley spoke of those outside the Church who say Latter-day Saints "do not believe in the traditional Christ."No, I don't. The traditional Christ of whom they speak is not the Christ of whom I speak. Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley, LDS Church News, June 20, 1998, p.7
THIRD: THE MORMON CHURCH ITSELF REJECTS CHRISTIANITY
Beginning with Joseph Smith, Mormon prophets have steadfastly proclaimed all Christian denominations were in a state of apostasy.
This raises an interesting question. A heretic is someone who rejects one or more doctrines of religion, but an apostate is someone who has rejected the religion entirely. How is it, exactly, that you can be something you have completely dismissed? How does that work?
