But aren't you the one now claiming OT believer were not indwelt by the Holy Spirit in absence of any supporting Scripture? That seems to be a significant castle on top of a tenuous inferences. It puzzles me why you are even making it without any Scriptural support.
And its one that I personally would avoid making based on Matt. 12:31,32.
That would require a pile of Scriptures throughout the Old Testament to demonstrate.
It’s not a priority for me today.
Construe that however you will.
Perhaps you misunderstood. I was not saying that the administration of salvation under the old covenant was not different from the new. Clearly it was, being administered in temporary, imperfect types and symbols (sacrifices, feast days, food laws, the priesthood, etc).
What I was questioning is whether you think the basis of ones salvation under the old covenant was different.
The basis of salvation is always the finished work of Messiah whose blood was shed on behalf of His people. The application of that work comes by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit where faith in produced in the believer. All believers were/are/will be saved in this manner.
The only alternative is works-righteous where we must keep ourselves saved by doing good works apart the indwelling Holy Spirit. Did Abraham and Moses maintain their own righteousness before God, or was it a gift from God by the working of the Holy Spirit? If they maintained their own salvation, then they would have something to boast about (Rom. 4:2).
The operation of the Holy Spirit from old covenant to new may be different (and it is) but the necessity of the indwelling Holy Spirit for all believers is fairly apparent.
CERTAINLY FAITH IN GOD
IS THE ONLY ROUTE TO SALVATION IN OLD AND NEW TESTAMENT.
Hebrews is rather clear about that.
Because they trust Jesus The Christ and His Blood for their Salvation . . . believe that He came in the flesh etc.
Which Jesus?
I think the non-Trinitarian stuff is silly and convoluted. At some point it could even be a spiritual stumbling block of serious proportions.
"At some point". At square one.
I thought you were giving up Quix for Lent, Easter, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter . . . etc.
What a surprise!
Hey Quix - can you please remove me from all your ping lists? Thank you!
