Roman system’s interpretation of these verses, the house of cards falls.
Peter says that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and you and Rome would
have us believe that a man who Jesus will refer to as satan in just a few verses,
IS THE ROCK, instead of the ROCK being Himself, the Son of God for the
foundation of the church. I don’t think so.
In Paul’s letters to Timothy he warns him about activites of false teachers as
well as warning the Ephesian elders. In both cases one would expect that given
the danger of false teachers, that Paul would make reference to a higher
authority or source for sound doctrine to accomplish the work of ministry.
If there was to be some external source of authority in the form of the papacy,
a group of prophets, new scriptures, or any other extra-scriptural organization,
you would think the apostle Paul would have mentioned it, such as “Follow Peter’s
successors in Rome” He doesn’t, but instead says follow the word of God.
The proof of Sola Scripture is easy and simple. We know that only the scriptures
are God Breathed, why would anyone believe anything other than scripture is
from God ? There is no rational reason to look to any other source for sound
doctrine. Paul warned Timothy about false teachers, and instructed him to look
to the scriptures.
So now tell how you know that Mary and the dead saints hear your prayers ?
