The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez Frías, is celebrating the tenth anniversary of his weekly televised litany with a special edition, lasting four whole days.
Yesterday, President Chávez greeted his god:
"A big applause for Fidel, our father who art in Havana!"
Dear Virgin of Tepeyac: pray for Latin America!
Mockery, like anger, is a powerful emotional force. In the Bible, it was almost always used by a proud person who was trying to stop or hinder the work of God or the truth of God. Mockery of truth was an attempt to get people to lay aside their minds and follow their emotions. Jesus faced much mockery while here on earth.
Psalm 1:1 says, “Blessed is the man that ... sitteth not in the seat of the scornful.”
Chavez’ Venezuela marathon TV show cut short
Sun May 31, 2:20 pm ET
CARACAS (Reuters) Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez had promised a four-day marathon edition of his widely watched weekly television talkshow, but unspecified technical problems threw the plans awry this weekend.
In a three-line statement, the information ministry said Sunday’s “Alo Presidente” program had been canceled for technical reasons. Saturday’s show was called off without explanation.
To mark its 10 years on air, Chavez last week announced an extended edition of the program he frequently uses to criticize the United States and announce major policies like nationalizations in South America’s top oil exporter. He planned to do one or two hours-long broadcasts a day.
The leftist began on Thursday, speaking for about eight hours in two installments and threatening to punish a critical private TV station.

Archbishop slams plan by Chavez to centralize authority in Caracas
Caracas, Venezuela, Mar 12, 2009 / 07:08 pm (CNA).- The second vice president of the Bishops Conference of Venezuela, Archbishop Roberto Luckert, said this week that the plan by the Chavez government to centralize all authority in Caracas under one official is an abuse and a mockery and confirms that Chavez does not respect or believe in the ballot box, but rather in using force.
The archbishops comments were in reference to a plan by the National Assembly to create the office of Vice president of the Metropolitan Area of Caracas, which would be above the mayor and would be designated by the president.
Speaking on Union Radio, Archbishop Luckert recalled that the residents of Caracas elected Antonio Ledezma to be their mayor. Why are they going to name someone else now in violation of the all the constitutional norms and of what the people expressed at the polls? he asked.
He called the proposal an abuse and a mockery of the Venezuelan people, and he said it shows once again that Chavez has never believed in elections. Ever since he left prison he has persuaded us to abstain, he did not believe in the power of voting but rather in the use of force, the archbishop stated.
Mayor Ledezma also criticized the plan and said Chavez is seeking to strip power away from the opposition through a policy of sabotage, using tactics that border on the illegal.

Glad to read someone is standing up to this dictator.
Looks like Obama's got some competition on the narcissism front.
