McKay's vexation with Catholicism finally came to a head with his 1953 identification of the Catholic Church as one of the "two great anti-Christs in the world"

Mormons agreeing with John Calvin ping.

How is this different from Protestant views toward the Catholic Crucifix?

As though Catholics don’t believe in the Risen Christ....

Without the cross, we’re still dead in our sins. I’ll take the cross, thank you.

I’m told the spire at the top of Mormon places of worship represents their aspirations to elevate themselves up to the level of their god. Their god was once a human and did the same.

What was that passage about the foolishness of the cross? /s

Guess St. Paul’s discourse is off limits.

The Old Rugged Cross

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame;
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.

Refrain

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.

Refrain

In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.

Refrain

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I’ll share.

Refrain

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but to us which are saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18

Great, y’all worship the Cross and I’ll worship God and His only Begotten Son. That should make both of us happy.

Happy? I suppose that our divergent paths in which those Christians Judged to salvation get to worship forever in the presence of God versus those who get to become their own gods over their own universes might provide a different type of happiness.

“It’s no accident that Mormon steeples, temples and necks are free of Christian crosses.

We don’t do crosses much in the PCA church, at least not in the ones I’ve gone to. Maybe others do.

I was always creeped out by the churches where they still show Christ on the cross.

But I do believe in God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

Don’t worship crosses though.

Didn’t you love that 2 hour course you took in Mormonism from your preacher?

Great, y’all worship the Cross and I’ll worship God and His only Begotten Son. That should make both of us happy.

Then why don't you obey Him for once.

Mt 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Mr 8:34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Mr 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
Lu 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

And you people think that means nail up a cross on your buildings and wear crosses as jewelry? That seems to be your implication and it is not the implication of the scripture.

Thank you for showing everyone here that mormons reject the cross and all it stands for. Paul wrote (in that standard work poorly cited by mormons):

Gal 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

Col 1: 19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; 20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

We are reminded daily to take up our cross. What do mormons take up? Their cute little CTR rings and tags. And remember, historically, it was mormons who rejected the cross and all it stands for. All things were reconciled by that cross - no need for your filthy (menstrual) (Isa 64:6) rag righteousness of mormon works/ordinances.
